I made this recording as I was coming out of the most acute phase of my illness around week 12 in June 2020. I had been following others with a longer version of Covid on the facebook page and knew after a visit to A+E in hospital that I was on my own with regards to working out how to help myself. I knew that I needed to gently nurture my body back to health.
I wanted to record a class that might help others too. As of Feb 2021 it's already had over 7000 views through my facebook group Yoga and PT for gentle Covid recovery. If someone is new to Yoga or exercise, some of this video may feel too much, in which case, just stop and watch any parts you need to.

Just done this again today and I cried when you said this won’t last forever. Hope you are well. I fell away from doing but starting from today will carry out daily. I’ve had a hard time trying post covid. I was getting better but my sweet young cat was killed, hit by a car and it broke me in two. I’ve also been struggling by with sleep badly like 48 hours nothing 🙈🥲 but did manage 6 hours last night so a blessing and also ended up with a bacterial chest infection which again threw me back. So physically and mentally all over the place but really felt cared for during that session. I need more crying I think to release all the sadness, anxiety and fear I have. I have just started following your classes after a long time with Covid symptoms which have only just been diagnosed due to other health issues. I am finding them soooo helpful! The sense of community, the way you explain some of the 'biology' e.g. how the amygdala works with our breathing. My anxiety levels have really dropped recently and I am sure these classes are helping a lot. Still on level 1 but I am not rushing. Thanks.

Nearly 4 years in and hospitalized several times. Just starting with the breathing . Been doing breathing exercises for over 2 years but will try this breathing for starters.

5 weeks in and just tried this. Allowed me to stretch my muscles without getting breathless or fatigued, and feel very relaxed now. First time I’ve ever enjoyed yoga as well!

Thank you so much my doctor put me on to your channel! I had a few instances of faster heart rate a few weeks before covid possibly due to chest infection but I then got covid (so couldn’t check) and heart rate was super fast first day of covid. Now day 12 after I still have faster resting heart rate sitting or lying can be 85 to 100 bpm and walking to the loo could be 120 bpm ! So frustrating but have ecg next week, bloods as may be nothing to do with covid as started before and chest X-ray as still breathless, Mucus and pain in chest/ribs and there was an definite infection at one point so need to make sure it’s clear. I have been quite worried as been mainly in bed for almost the past two weeks (as well as a week at Christmas) so want to do something to stop blood clots, keep active but I’m not allowed high intensity! Really appreciate this help!❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this. A member of the fb group and recently had a second infection which I’m struggling to recover from again! Found this to be a good start. Kept my heart rate below 100 so will see how I feel later/tomorrow and hopefully repeat.

Thankyou so much..i have been very frustrated i could not do my usual yoga and running exercise. Long covid here and struggle to walk around with many different symptoms still struggling to be taken seriously by my gp in uk. Appreciate your support i will give this a bash tonight i need some sort of routine back so i can develop my relationship with my body all over again.

If anything, watch some of the live taught classes posted on the channel too - they really drop into an 'if you can't do anything but breathe today' level - the first video i posted was when i was only working with my own symptoms and physical recovery...I now have worked with thousands of people and listened to their feedback. Less is more at the start..xx

Make sure you do more yoga Nidra than anything physical - that’s super important xx

Thanks Suzy, what a crazy ride long covid is, I am a yoga teacher myself and am struggling to practice. the key is acceptance and being kind to yourself as you said! How are you now? Have you fully recovered? Iam 13 weeks in and still no really improving.

Thank you that was so lovely! First time doing I have an increased resting heart rate, although it has dropped a little post covid. I do however, have elevated hr sitting and moving around so need to keep things low intensity. So my doctor directed me to you and we are doing tests next week. I do feel a little refreshed so appreciate this first video. Can I do daily?

If you are doing small amounts daily that is great - just keep an eye on your heart rate - with most of what is here it should be absolutely fine - your body will tell you if it's not xx
