I just talked to a sheriff driving one of these. He said it was useless as a high speed pursuit vehicle. No top end to speak of, ok acceleration and terrible in the curves. I mean,it's a brick 😂 Ford really shot themselves in the foot when they stopped building the Crown Victoria. Every cop I've ever asked said they wished they still had the Vic

Had the same conversation with a State Patrolman , he went from a charger to this and found it to be sadly lacking, , couldn’t corner ( no dah it’s a dam pickup ) slow in acceleration , stopping stunk , only thing it did well was the pit maneuver , if it could catch up

@@STORMZ8 the charger is a muscle car that sacrifices everything for acceleration. I’ve seen Arkansas state police and GSP almost spin out in those things. The police charger lacks the following, the SRT-8, Hellcat or Hellcat red eye brembo brake package and its DOT legal race tires. We’ll see what happens when the new crop of police mustangs fitted with the GT performance package ( which includes the brembo brakes and 19 inch pirelli tires ) start hitting the road. I think the charger will be dethroned

Huge missed opportunity not utilizing the 5.0 V8 on this unit.

Why, the Ecoboost is faster and out performs the 5.0 in almost every facet except maybe longevity, which isn't the top priority of a police vehicle. They also perform better at elevation being forced air. The mountains are a place you'd expect to see more police trucks used and the 5.0 suffers from the same power loss any naturally asperated engine does up here at 10k+ elevation.

@@iels7346 -- The 5.0L V8 might not have some of the 'gusto' that the EcoBoost V6 does, but it's going to last longer and cost less to maintain. Fuel mileage won't be much different, either.

@@iels7346 As someone that frequently takes a 2011 5.0 past 10k elevation, you are way over exaggerating the power loss at elevation. There was a time when NA engines suffered at elevation, but we're past that time. We're talking a 20hp loss here, in a truck. Picking the more reliable engine and putting up with the minimal power loss would've been the smarter thing to do here, especially for cost cutting. Remember, WE are paying for these vehicles. We should want the cheaper, more reliable option here. I don't wanna see my tax dollars on a lift every other week.

So strange now that there are not more police package sedans in the USA. The Taurus went defunct after 2019, the Caprice PPV was ended after 2017 and the Charger Pursuit went out of production last December. It's all trucks and SUVs now.

Im a police officer... alot of smaller agencies require officers to provide their own vehicles. Usually volunteer (police reserve) agencies require this, but also small county constables and school resource officers. I state this to ask... does it have to be a government agency ordering the police vehicle? Or can I just being a state licensed and comissioned police officer order it for myself?

My F-150 has led front and back and you cannot upgrade or replace lights. You must replace the entire assembly at a huge cost. My license plate lights were awful but I could up grade to led easily. The trailer plug blocks the light on that side. Why does Ford stick with weak incandescent tag lights. Just a wild idea; have the powerboost hybrid. It cost more but can have gas savings. With an electric lock-in mode you can have a stealth vehicle for urban areas, like I have seen with EV police cars, plus it is much faster out of the hole.

If you think about this from a fleet standpoint, all the other ford police vehicles use the 3.5. I think only the F150 SSV can be ordered with the 5.0. This means that a department only has to be familiar with 1 engine and keep spares for 1 engine. But the Police version of the Explorer, Expedition, and Transit all use the 3.5.

I'm not sure where you getting your info from, the RCMP here in Canada run thousands of Explorers, they tried a few Durango's they were turned in to taxi cabs in the first year they were so bad. GM is having problems with their 5.3 engines, they can't handle the idling the RCMP put a stop purchase on all GM Vehicles now. I live down the road from the RCMP upfit building I counted over 100 Explorers just waiting to be upfitted.
