Ian Callum came up with the modern Aston Martin design language. That was the pinnacle of car design. Every subsequent Aston Martin designer is basically tweaking his perfect design. All Aston's look good because they are derivations of Ian Callum's design however they can't really improve on his work.

This is the smartest comment I’ve seen in the two reviews so far. Ian is the man. As a 2nd gen Vanquish Volante owner as well as a 2017 Jag F-Type R convt I really think Ian has to be one of the very best coach designers ever. I think the back end of this Vanquish looks like a pick up truck door. Side is nice with wide deck sills and the front looks about the same as previous models. Interior is great

They need to take that rear 3/4 shot of this car and redesign the front around that same language because its gorgeous from that angle, and while I'll never be a fan of modern interiors that steering wheel and panel is miles better than what Ferrari are doing. Give me a carbon fiber roof for more head room and a lower center of gravity than a glorified window though.

Regarding the roof: I have a 2015 Vanquish with the carbon roof and Alcantara headliner, and I sometimes find myself wishing I had glass up there to make the interior a bit lighter, which makes it look/feel bigger inside. Mine feels quite dark. At least now there's an option. I do wish it had the electrochromic tint, though, a shame that wasn't possible.

As a current owner of the last Vanquish: I mostly like this. I'm on the fence about the grille, but overall it looks way better than the Ferrari. Not as good as my 2015, though. Finally Aston Martin has nailed the interior of their car and remastered the exterior. The only thing I did not really like was the interior in the old version cars. Now, I am in love with that design! V12, 825 hp, no hybrid! AWESOME 👌!❤ Vanquish or 12 cilindri? I'll go for the new Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (Classic and Conservative) and the Futuristic Puresangue, as Ferrari sound is unmatchable! ❤❤❤The Berlinetta and Superfast 812 are truly beautiful comparing to the new 12 cilindri in my opinion!❤❤❤

Cilindri. I understand why some people disliked the aesthetic direction of the pre-facelift vantage, but I actually liked that one for the direction they were heading. Hot take, I don't like the new Aston direction of BIG, VENTS, and such. Aston for me was always about beauty and elegance. Now they're more bar knuckle boxer in a tux. Which is appealing, don't get me wrong. But it's not the Aston that I know and love is what I'm saying. On another note, I'm tired (again not saying that they look bad they've just fallen out of favor) of the Chris Bangle Era headlights. On another sidenote, I do like the Victor and those that were inspired from it.

Always been a massive Aston fan (which any Brit should be) and it's great to see a new Vanquish. That rear end is a bit naughty with the nude carbon panel isn't it? My word. Behave. I'll be honest, I would love to see Aston do an 'affordable' (lol) rear mid-engined model, like a watered down version of the new Valhalla (?) to really go head-to-head with Ferrari and McLaren. It would probably be the best looking car in the world. I get it though, Aston have a historic recipe which they stick to for standard production models. I think the Vantage is the one, though, and not just because it's the cheapest.

...big, brutish...?? With just 5,2 l? Your description of the motor (around 12-13 mins in) is inaccurate and misleading. Aston elected to do it with turbo vs Ferrari doing it with more displacement and many more revs...two very different approaches, which you don't do justice.

@@kero-x8l point taken re turbo torque, but the "real deal" has to be high revving NA. There is just no other spine tingling sound like a V12 (even a V10) at 8 or 9000 rpm. It is just glorious. Sounds like F1 from a couple of decades back 😊👌

@@kero-x8l true, just ask DDE 😂🤣😂 But funnily enough, most of their troubles seem to be with anything other than the motors of their 3 or 4 (5?) Ferrari V12's. But it's really difficult to decide which sounds sweeter: Ferrari or Lambo? Or BMW or AMG? There has been a great history of legendary, naturally aspirated V12's over the years, and these may sadly be the final incarnation of these glorious machines. Long live the NA V12 😊💪💪 PS. Given the ideal piston volume of around 500cc, that explains why the most successful versions are all around 6 liters, 6,2, 6,3, 6,5...not 5,2l. I hope that 5,2l plus all that plumbing is really well insulated and ventilated, otherwise they're bound to suffer extreme heat soak 🤦 Aston have consistently been on my very short list of most beautiful cars in the world, but I can't recall them ever being on my list of turbocharging experts 🤔🤔🧐🤔😏

The first-gen Vanquish is *still* my favorite. I'd gladly take one, with a 6-speed manual conversion and the 600-hp naturally aspirated 5.9L V12 from the V12 Vantage RS concept car, or even, boldly, the 750-hp 7.3L from the One-77. I don't mind if they lack in power over the new model, but I'd definitely choose it over this one.

While I've always said the best Aston is the tiniest Aston (the Vantage. My all-time favorite sports car), it is lovely to see the company bringing back the Vanquish in a big way. I see some cues from the Taraf, the One-77, and the current Astons, which is nice to see, but also it is its own thing which is awesome. This is going to be a great grand tourer, though it makes me wonder about the future of the DBs.
