I've done some research on Ceado grinders in the past and ended up purchasing their entry level model (E5P). The E5P and E5SD (single dose) are probably the more comparables to the DF64 (same burr size, equivalent features). If you want to compare the E37S, I think you should use it as intended (e.g. fill the hopper). As you mentioned, it's basically a commercial grinder and is optimized for high volume use. If in a shop, they wouldn't worry about retention from shot to shot since it's likely still a fresh grind. Ceado's single dose versions come with different burrs (coated I believe) and a bellows. I think they were one of the first to come out with bellows as a solution to reduce single dose retention. I haven't confirmed this but based on videos I've seen I'm guessing the quality of their bellows is much better than most. Also, they recommend RDT with their SD grinders and the burr set is designed to accommodate that. Overall, their grinders are very well built. I believe my E5P has a more capable motor than the DF64 and everything on it is probably of better build quality. Definitely built like a tank. You can also install different burrs (e.g. SSP). I modded mine to be single dose by tilting it and removing the hopper. I initially used a bellows, but I don't like the mess it made. Instead, I removed the declumper (where most of the retention happens) since I always grind into a catch cup and use WDT. Lastly, I believe it's pronounced "chee-ado" and not "see-ado".

David Maurice has some great insight to the Ceado line. I'll have to try tilting my E37J, to see if single dosing works more easily. When I cleaned the inside housing, I decided to extremely bend the declumper since I thought if I removed it, a gap that was present, would allow some grounds to not be properly expelled from the machine. I definitely have to use a bellows when single dosing. I haven't checked my alignment, but the shots I pull are definitely different from my Compak E10, but they are wonderfully enjoyable.

I get very little retention, pretty much equivalent to other zero retention grinders, although not as close as my hand grinder (JX-Pro). I have a 6-8 inch potable PVC pipe fitted to the opening instead of a hopper. I settled on that because it was easy to feed and not have any beans stuck anywhere (feeding can be an issue when you tilt since my E5P wasn't designed for that). Also the length mostly prevents any bits flying out from popcorning. I think it also might be affecting the air flow into the grinder, focusing it and helping to push out the grounds (just speculation though). My one concern with the tilt mod is that I don't know if there's any long term impact. Ceado does have a tilted model (the $4-5k E37Z-Naked) and I imagine there's more to making this work than just putting the grinder on an angle. So far though after about a year, I haven't come across any issues.

@@johnkoroglu8640 When I was using the pipe it was long enough to prevent most popcorning, but I did have to put my hand over it just in case. I'm now using a 3D printed version that has anti-popcorning integrated on the inside. Still working out the kinks on the design but have been using the prototype for almost half a year. I plan to use the final design to build a mold and cast a food safe resin version.

I think you have to adjust the mill. The extraction time was 20 seconds, which is short If the mill is set to about 9, I set my mill depending on the grain to about 4.5. My mill is point 0 exactly the blades are close together I'm really happy with the ceado e37sd mill. I get the exact amount of weighted coffee after the mill, even without a tenth of a gram of change. For single dose grinders, it is better to use water spray phase. It greatly improves the coffee grinding phase. The ceado e37sd model has titanium blades that are really strong and durable

Did you RDT before putting the beans into the hopper? There usually isn’t that much retention on the chute in other peoples videos with this grinder.

Hi Hoon when I dial in with my Eureka specialita and use my bottomless porterfilter no problem , but when I use my dual spout porterfilter it's not dialled in using Sage Barrista Pro both have IMS baskets so it should work the same , but it doesn't the double spout is much slower , any ideas please .

I recently bought the Ceado E6P and a friend of mine bought the E37S. The E6 is already amazing, I was using the breville smart grinder pro and making good coffee, on par with standard shots at my local coffee shops. However since using the E6, I’m pulling shots comparable to some of the best shots I’ve had at my fav local shop, using their beans. Ceado really makes amazing flat burr machines. Very quiet too and feels solid. Love the step less adjustment. Kind of wish I got the E37 for the larger burr and worm gear, as the E6 has pretty heavy adjustment collar. But it’s more than twice the price of the E6 so it’s out of my budget. Only issue is the retention, as the E6 retains 1.5-2g, I have to purge every day before pulling a shot. The E37S has much lower retention, not as good as niche or specific single dosing grinders, but for flat burr it’s pretty good

so if you have a flow control machine, u can adjust to 9 bars with it. whats the point of the grind size then? or stepless adjustment?

It's another parameter to play with. When I grind really fine, I find the flavor gets bitter. If I change coffee and want to maintain a similar flavor profile (chocolaty or nutty or citrus) I change the grind size, dose amount and play with the flow rate. I have a flow control modified Rocket. I just bought the Ceado E37s which changes everything and I have to adjust all over again. Grounds are so consistent and fluffy. No channeling and very creamy shots right off the bat. Will play with the flow control later.
