I hate this kind of video because it immediately drives me to run out and impulsively spend $152 on something that I don't absolutely need but would love to play with. Thanks for sharing. Much fun. Appreciated.

$152? The link now shows it as $199.80! You must have created a lot of interest on the site. They wasted no time in jacking up the price🤣🤣🤣

Now that looks like an excellent multi use terminal for diagnostic and other things.

I appreciate the review. I've always struggled with what to do with those sorts of things. Node red is great and they have an addon called node-red-dashboard that gives some nice display options. It would be nice for your octoprint too. If you ever do decide to get into any automation at all, lorawan and zigbee would be right up your alley because there's no internet involved, which is kind of nice. I've never been super into automation, but I have to admit that it's brought me a lot of joy when my camera turns on porch lights when it detects "human" motion in the backyard and stuff like that.

Nice device, I have no need for something like this, but it's good to know about it. It has a good price point even if its just for tinkering. The fan seems a little loud. Thanks for the overview. Take care.

Gee, the fan is loud. Its the prepper tablet: This device provides low power modern radios, to an open programming stack.

It's something I have no use for, but I do like the look of it. (Apart from the over reflective screen.)

Lora, see Andreas Spiess videos, node red does not need other "node red" stuff, just some external hardware that reports like a weather station or temp/humid sensor on esp32 for terrarium, the demo dashboard is probably a node red dashboard.

Please be careful not to knock over that glass of ice tea in the midst of all those electronics.

The most important question is........can it run Doom? 😂 Great video, now that's another gadget I don't need on my list 😅

damn, I missed the obvious test! But I bet it will, just like any other raspberry pi.

Electrow offered me one of those too, I never got around to replying to them… watching with interest to see if I should email them back or not

Finding drivers and/or configurations for the communication modules and interfaces will be the biggest challenge in fully utilizing the included hardware.

and your face finally makes it on the screen, would it run Meshtastic for the LoRa stuff?
@pileofstuff

I suspect it would, assuming you had the appropriate drivers for the Lora module.

I would assume so, assuming you were able to find the drivers to activate the GPS module.

Might be "all-in-one" but all those cables and antennas sticking out make it barely usable or mountable.
@pileofstuff
@pileofstuff 3 ай бұрын
If it was mounted in a kiosk or larger cabinet (which I assume is the manufacturer's intent) the cables would be inside, and the antennas could be extended wherever you need. While they do call it a "tablet", the lack of a battery seems to imply that's not how it is expected to be used.
