absolutely correct Justin - Spence did an amazing job narrating the action AND for me a HUGE plus was Spence kept "SLOW MO" OUT of the vid. As a viewer, I'm so amazed how fast these elites run and I want camera angles that promote a sense of SPEED ! I think SLOW MO is good for NFL replay challenges, but not for track and field {with the exception of a "photo finish" Ha! ] Spence had the perfect balance of "college life", pre race, the actual race, commentary, and conclusion - it was an "A + " in my book.

@theduckrunner51644 жыл бұрын
yea 4:07 is really fast no matter how you cut it - that's 2:03 per 800 - if I ran 2:03 for an 800, I'd throw a party and invite all my friends over to celebrate LOL - Spence has run 3:59 for the mile before and I'm sure he"ll do it again. The guy seems to have a good head on his shoulders and he's destined for great things. Let's all keep encouraging him, because he's worth rooting for.
@theduckrunner51644 жыл бұрын
@@AdamsLTFC420 Don't be down on 8:04 - As long as you're doing your best, that's what matters - I don't know you, but if I had to guess, you're a person of integrity and honesty and that to me is more important than your mile time {with a good plan that time could easily fall} - I was worked with a guy {we were aircraft mechanics} he said he ran a 4:06 mile in high school and I believed him - but after a few weeks of research discovered he ran like 4:47 {which is still good] but I was pissed he'd lie about his time. After that I lost respect for the guy and always wondered, if the guy is lying about something as trite as his HS mile time, what else is he lying about ? Is he falsifying aircraft logs ? - So now you got to keep a watchful eye - another guy I worked with said he was an Army Ranger and come to find out that was a lie - It's amazing what people lie about!

I'm actually being serious about this, but that could explain the "off Day' at the races - look at how race horses are fed - high quality oats and lots of good clean water - horses are so consistent in their race times - they seem to always hit their mile times in 1:37 + or minus 3 seconds no matter the place they come in with or without "handicapping" - we could learn a lot from "mister Ed" LOL

trust the process? ... I'm a nobody, but I personally think you have been over training and over racing. You gotta take some breaks.
@markbateman92224 жыл бұрын
The problem in the DMR was in your head. You were obsessed by the clock and hitting a certain time; When you felt the pace slowing after 600 you should have taken the lead and just run hard. Ignore the clock and whether or not the team was going to get the qualifying time; at that precise moment it's an individual effort. you started to tie up badly when you looked at the damn clock and realised that the qualifying time was out of reach. In your head you rationalised it a s any more effort being a waste of time so your body shut down. Next day you were still in this mental fog. Started at the back - and stayed there! Next time, get out with the leading bunch, trade a few elbows if necessary and just race the field.

The reason I like Spence so much is because he gives it everything and he's not a quitter - how many times have we seen ELITES drop out of a race because they fell, or they got a little cramp - now if you got a legit injury FINE drop out, but if it's an off day and you're trying to hang on, FINISH the race -even if you have to walk- I'd respect that more than quitting - Spence gave it all and that's good enough for me! And 4:07 is still pretty darn FAST.

Just subscribed and "rang the bell" - the video was an A+ . You're really a breath of fresh air. You are the real deal and I'm positive the Good Lord has many great things in store for you. Try not to be so down on a 4:07 indoor mile. Even on what you call a "bad day", you're still pretty darn fast !!!! You just so happen to go to the same school that my FAVORITE basketball player plays for - Mac McClung - have you seen Mac play ? - I think you and Mac have one thing in common & that being both of you will turn pro in their respective sport - keeping up with McClung kind of helped me stumble on you and the main reason I stumbled on McClung was because I grew up in Fairfax VA only about 20 miles from Georgetown U. Anyway, the important thing is I found your channel since track and field is my favorite sport. Just out of curiosity what are you majoring in at Georgetown U. ?

I gave you a "like" because it's a free country and your opinion should be respected, HOWEVER, I got to ask, would you really rather have music over commentary ? I'm trying to encourage the running You Tubers to have VERY VERY little music or even NO music. If you're in the mood for music, just about every song that's ever been recorded in the last 100 years can be found on You Tube not to mention the Pandora aps and all the other music aps AND last but not least, good old fashioned FM radio. I've clicked off many a You Tube vid midstream because the music was just too annoying and distracting. But, I still respect your view - I'm not your "enemy" LOL

And let's not forget, it's really hard for a college runner to "hit home runs" 4 years in a row. It happens in all sports - how many times have we seen in MLB, a guy gets called up and "sets the world on fire" only to suffer the following year the proverbial "sophomore slump" - I can think of several really fast college runners who had incredible sophomore seasons followed by a "down" junior year {"down" meaning they still ran OK, but somewhat off of their PB's} - this is normal - my theory is, it's the body's way of trying to recover and heal from all the grind. If we are true "Spence Fans", we need to root for his LONG term success. The guy's got incredible talent, he could be a guy to really go after the Kenyans in years to come. {the Brits I think he's got that covered now, except for Mo LOL}

Caffeine was creating all sorts of problems, jitterness, bad sleep, had to pee constantly, I really encourage you to at least try to get off the stuff for a month and see if you feel better - like durianrider says "get off the stims mate" - now I know Nick won't like my opinion on the matter and that's OK, but we live in a free country and if you want to use caffeine fine, for me NEVER again.

@@isaacoquendo3054 I once pulled an all nighter with some classmates to get a project done assigned from a pissed off instructor LOL - I drank caffeinated coffee all night and was super amped and I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep anyways so I went out and ran my 8 mile training course and I smashed my course record - that is the only time caffine worked for me, and even though I was happy about the training run, it just felt kind of weird. In future caffeine binges, I did not notice any benefit in my running and I'm certainly not a scientist, I have no idea why it only worked that one time. But it's no longer an issue for me since I quit caffeine anyways LOL! Recently I just "discovered" amazing post workout/race provisions and it's simple: blueberries, bananas, pumpkin seeds, and water - I'm recovering so much faster than I've ever recovered - so anyways good luck in your athletics and thanks for the reply!
