Some really cool shots! Currently finishing my first roll with the Ektar H35, and definitely found some inspiration here! I like having it on a daily basis, way more practical than my Minolta XG-1. It is a nice little camera to capture these little moments of life we encounter everyday.

Just got an Ektar with Ultramax 400 and was really worried all the daytime shots were going to be super over-exposed but all of the examples at the beginning are making me feel a bit more at ease. Great shots!

Amazing pictures! I had the Ektar H35 as my first camera and it became my gateway drug to film photography. I've upgraded to a second hand Olympus Pen EE2, bonus from the ektar h35 is that it has light sensors that help preventing from taking underexposed shots and it feels nice being that its metal than a light plastic camera.

How is the Olympus Pen EE2? Do u recommend it?
@nat_lysa32010 ай бұрын
@@vidipsahoo4968 Still do. Though now the light meter died, I can still use it manually by adjusting the aperture.. brought out a different shooting experience.

@@nat_lysa320 How is it for beginner photographers, because apparently focusing can be a challenge?
@nat_lysa32010 ай бұрын
@@vidipsahoo4968 in terms of focusing, its zone focus with focal distance of 1.5 m - infinity . So it’s not best for close ups as the subject will be blurry. Takes time to learn how to eyeball the distance between your subject. I would say it is good for beginners to try out especially with the light meter function.

Really good pictures. Got a h35 myself and I used fujifilm superia 400 as my first roll of film. The camera really stuggles with low light thanks to the shutter speed and aperture. Alot of my shots ended up underexposed as a result. Cloudy weather and this camera doesn't go well together
@sunflowersyd Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I agree, I'm still experimenting with different film stocks. It seems like an 800 would do well in cloudy conditions but I'll have to shoot and find out!

You can install ligth meter app in the phone, set f 9.5 and iso film and see if the measured ligth adjusts time around 1/100 like your H35, then you can shoot with the correct ligth for this camera, otherwise it will be over exposed or under exposed

@datvu6 Жыл бұрын
@@sunflowersyd there are lots of other mechanical SLR options that are much cheaper though. The Pentax Spotmatic and Nikon FG, FE, FM or Canon FTb, EF for examples. They all have flexible lens mounts and would produce far better results than ur current plastic half frame camera. Since film are getting expensive, investing in a good camera that can produce good results is better!
@sunflowersyd Жыл бұрын
@@datvu6 Oh wow these are really good recommendations! Thank you!
@seed157 Жыл бұрын
@@datvu6 thats why people buy the ektar. It's half frame so u get double the pictures for half the cost. It also creates old school low quality pictures. The nostalgia factor is what people are aiming for. Nearly everyone who has a ektar has also a main camera for more professional work. The ektar is just a fun toy to collect memories
@datvu6 Жыл бұрын
@@seed157 that's fair. I also got a Canon Demi EE17 that I love to snap pictures with. Using zone focus and having a flexible aperture/shutter control is a lot of fun, and it's always rewarding when seeing those shots perfectly excuted in the final scans. Personally I don't like the feel of the Ektar that much since it's, well, plastic. As much as I like the fun and affordable half frame format, I'd rather invest in a mechanical metal chunk with advance lever :P

Which film do you prefer? Where in from, ultramax 400 is cheaper than gold 200. But today i found a good deal on the latter. I just like 400 for the versatility but gold 200 looks so pretty in very sunny days. Does the 400 iso makes for extremely overexposed pics on sunny days?
