@@MossMini with all due respect I live in south Florida I can travel down the 75 and there are diesel stations at every exit. There are Tesla charging stations but you must wait for your car to charge. This car as it stands will take you 500 miles on one tank. I’ll say this unless Elon musk or the Tesla owners chip in to put charging stations everywhere you are gonna have trouble convincing the average American to pay more on taxes to build the infrastructure for the cars to work seamlessly. I also don’t understand the idea of making putting charger underneath the highways( so the cars can charge while driving) and the cars become self driving because that just sounds like a train to me. It just seems like a lot of work to completely build This new way of transportation, then upgrading the current. I’m not being argumentative I’m just saying what I think. If I’m wrong tell me. I should also say the idea of mining for oil comparative to lithium mines both is digging into the ground to get minerals to run the vehicles. Also used electric cars are the hardest vehicles to sell. Selling new Teslas sure but I already know that any used electric car is almost impossible to sell.

It's important to remember that Diesel engines can be adapted to use dozens of different fuels such as methanol, maybe ethanol, kerosene, all sorts of oils even cooking oil without being converted to Diesel, DME, many other fuels if used as a dual fuel setup, ...
@paradiselost99464 ай бұрын
@@vitordelima also bear in mind that the "diesel" as we know it is just the version that survived as it was the simplest to build. theres quite an interesting lineage that led to its final form as we know it... the hotbulb is old and dead... too hard to control under varying load... but we now have nice high temperature, rapid heating glowplugs that can be very easily ran on PWM, for instance... allows for a lighter, lower compression design with lower NOS emissions but still retains the auto-ignition, with constant pressure type expansion phase. auto-ignition has the benefit of being able to run extremely lean... thats why diesel is so good on an idle. only needs enough fuel to kick it over the cycle, petrol has to run rich to get reliable ignition. some ideas such as brayton lacked metals, and devices such as turbo chargers... ICE is far from dead, but its about time some of the bigger companies went back and checked out previously considered "obsolete" ideas if they want to progress... the "otto cycle" is dead... or should be.
@vitordelima4 ай бұрын
@@paradiselost9946 Interesting. There are dozens of other potential improvements such as mixing water with the diesel or kerosene as a emulsion, semi-adiabatic pistons, different configurations for the pistons including opposing pistons, alternatives for the crankshafts, different methods for valve control, ... despite all the hype their efficiency is still better than most fuel cells, they can be used in gensets for electric vehicles while batteries are still terrible and they have reasonable costs when dealing with a lot of power and energy, which modern technologies don't (or even can't be used sometimes).

In 1989 Audi drove in the Audi 100 C3 with the 2.5 TDI engine on one fuel tank almost 3000 miles far. The range back then was 138 mp/g. They only achieved that with a bunch of fuel saving measures, like turning off all unnecessary electrical devices, running tires with very high pressures, never exceeding 37mp/h and removing the side mirrors to reduce drag. It's a pretty big car though, which is shaped like a brick and had two passengers on board (The driver and an independent observer from the German Automobile Club ADAC) I believe that manufacturers could build a very fuel efficient combustion engine, if they really wanted to, but for some reason they don't really want to. No to those who want the politics left out. Children can only handle one topic at a time, but ten years later, they've got to deal with the betrayals of public trust, especially as it intrudes on their work. Go Casey Go.

You should look up Opel at the 24 hours of La Mans. I think it was around 2002 or 2003 maybe, they built two prototypes for the race. Both were diesel electric running 1.3 litre engines, both averaged around 144 mph, and both got pretty close to 114 mpg during the 24 hour race. This was the best MPG by anyone to date in any motorsport like this. I found out about it during the big ethanol push around 2004 or 2005. I was in the process of building my own little gem. A 1986 Mazda RX7 with a 2000 Corvette LS1/4L60E swap. I managed pretty good set of numbers myself. Top speed around 165mph, great brakes with 4 piston front, single rears, slotted rotors all around. Car weighed in at 2890lbs full of gas. Ran 12.0 in the 1/4 mile, handled just like any good race car would, and got 29 MPG if I could keep my foot off the throttle, which was hard when you can blow by someone at 90 from 55 without ever hitting passing gear. Just a normal driving pass. But not so normal! Big fun! But Yes! Think outside the box! I laugh at the car shows like Motor trend, and HP TV. They are such a joke! All they do is try to sell you performance you can get for 1/4 the cost just by doing the math! HP to weight! Rule #1! Nothing else matters until you get this one right!

This is very similar to the guy that built a Locost7 with a turbo kubota and rwd celica trans and differential, then built a Lola body for it and ran it in thr "escape from berkley" race where they can drive anything but only get 1 galon of fuel. I believe his was also getting over 100 miles too
@dave36574 ай бұрын
I could believe it. 👍🏻 Next you need to also put your engine in a more practical body style. Years ago I did some mods on a ‘92 Buick Roadmaster with a 350V8, and I averaged 25 around town and 30 on the highway. And this was a big boat of a car , running the AC.

WOW, if your data is even close to accurate I highly suggest you build a Utility vehicle (Truck - Van) With the same engine and vision. You may have a bit less overall mileage but I think you would also still be way ahead of the curve. And that would be a great point for the world to know. Good Job. Soo Cool!

It starts like butter you made an amazing car Casey and 104 MPG is insane all of this from a 10 year old car shows that engines can indeed achieve higher efficiency but the unnecessary amount of weight added to the car and the restrictions added on the engines ruins the efficiency

@CaseyPutsch; Teh mechanical, shape, monocoque, frame, suspension, aerodynamics, interior, ergonomics, materials, manufacturing is superb, along with a very efficient Diesel engine with turbocharger too. There we're, are many significant improvements which were available 10-12 years ago, which re better today too. These include engine management, control, interface, modularity, internal combustion fuel types with common naturally grown fuel based to hydrogen including water to hydrogen via Stanley Meyers, perfected prior to Your 18th birthday, also Ohio based. Also, what would the fuel consumption, efficiency with the Diesel engine be using common type vegetable and similar oils ? For those that know of the Honda 1.5L CVCC Civic from 1975 achieved 54 MPG highway, along with power/weight, aerodynamics, all of the other aspects which contribute to efficient machine operation including top synthetics, then the efficiency is certainly easily improved. as You stated the power train, can be modified within this Omega Car design, so there are many options, which many are better still. Among my personal innovations is to include modularity within every design which certainly applies to this precious Omega Car too All The Best, Sincerely

I just came across your channel today. I love intelligent people doing constructive, smart things and taking a risk. The risk you take is your dollars and tim😂e, and reputation. The possible rewards are a boost to your reputation, a validation of your word, a huge gain to your net worth, and a deep personal satisfaction. These unrealized (as of yet, I take it), but deserved rewards pale in comparison to the reward all of us in this world with you will receive upon your success. All power to you and let me get in line for the production model. With all sincerity; Go Man Go!

this is an INCREDIBLY impressive vehicle! Are you willing to share details about it? I'm super curious about what the manufacturing process was like, and what materials you used, since you mentioned in the last video there's no fiberglass or carbon fiber, and that the goal was to make a recyclable and cheap product. Also, other specifications like the weight would be really interesting to know, if you're willing to share. Keep up the great work! This is really inspiring, and makes me happy to see as I'm an engineering student who also wants to someday make things that are efficient and environmentally friendly while not giving up qualities like performance and aesthetics
