I’ll briefly admit, I’m gonna miss riding the R46 train fleets soon once they retire. As much as I love the R46 train fleets because of the fact that the R46 train fleets, which has held up strong running for about 43-46 years now, and my rides on them has grown on me and that the train lines they run on make them the gods of variety, I’d be interested to experience a day where I take my opportunity to ride it and see how and what it feels like to ride on an R211.

There Running On The A & C Train First due to CBTC so There Had to test it first beside the Q train that have old age cars.

@Frank Ortolano they might test CBTC equipment on the Larry or on the QBL corridor but it looks like it favors left handed operation according to the photo of the cab in 4064... If... they were to qualify me(I'm a Fox T/O)for the equipment I'll have to get used to that...

@@Qboro66 The L uses 8-car sets. Plus they are earmarked for the 8th Avenue CBTC, so they want to get them on that line by November 2023 for the CBTC test. Speaking of the L, the R211 also has a 437 car option order that could be coming much later (before that there’s a 640 car option). Since there are 437 cars, 32 of them will be in 4-car units, so those cars could be going to the L route (if that option is exercise).

An exciting moment befalls us. Gonna miss the 32s and 46s once the 211s replace them--they've had good runs but I guess once all the kinks are ironed out in testing (once a full set is on-property of course), it'll be time for the 32s and 46s to pass the torch. (I still think the R211--let alone all of the B Division NTTs--could benefit aesthetically from having R42-styled horizontal ribbing on their sides though.)

Much of the base order is slated for the 8th Avenue CBTC. 440 cars most likely going to the A train. At that point, the A will be 100% R211s. Also, other transit systems get to replace their fleet, so why can’t NY?

There are three models of the R211: 1. R211A - Standard 2. R211T - Open Gangway 3. R211S - Staten Island Railway. They will replace: All SIR R44s & All R46s. Possibly some R68s
