Ray, this was great. Very Instructive and interesting. I particularly liked your mention of all the 5K setups vs. Mini's gun, yet you still came in third. I think that's pretty good evidence that you don't need the most expensive rig, you just need skill. We can't really call this your first rodeo considering your history, but for a first time out shooting 22 in competition it was impressive. I think you can tell from all the comments that this was well received.

Good video. Nice job on 3rd place. Just so your viewers know, Kestrels will dial down to any yardage needed, not in 10 yard increments. They are an invaluable tool for long range and 22 competitive shooting. Also, every ballistic phone app that is available will dial to exact yardage, usually available in free versions. 🙂🤟

Iam so nervous shooting my first match in April. This was super helpful love the channel learned so much
@XRING2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug! Your first match will be a little hectic. My biggest advice is to run all of your data the night before and make a cheat sheet with your rough dope. This is only if they send out a match book the night before. If they do not send out match books, then make sure to do your dope cards for the next stage as soon as you get done with the last one. Don’t wait till you move to that next stage. Good luck and let us know how you do. You will be fine I am sure. 👍🏼

@raining19753 жыл бұрын
Walter White , I wasn’t that into it with my 10/22 but after getting the vudoo I am hooked. If you can keep it sub moa then it scratches that precision bolt gun itch and you never have to wait for the barrel to cool off.

The only thing using 22 for a trainer is it's easy to figure the wind for the first 400 yard phase. Shooting out to 1200 sometimes has 3 phases. But I do love them for building positions and fundamentals. I almost went to that match but ended up doing a training day at pig river.

the stabilization is why i get better results with a faster powder in my hand loads. i didnt know why till you said that it slows the bullet down with a longer barrel. it probably makes a small difence in center fire but i gues its enough to make a driference.

Damn, you got some mad skills. Great work!!! Can you just elaborate on using the subsonic ammo? I was thinking higher velocity but if I understood you use the subsonic because less variance overall.
@christopherfreeman30953 жыл бұрын
It removes the unknown variance caused by the transonic range. When passing through the velocity range near the speed of sound the bullet experiences turbulence which can change your wind and elevation calls

awesome, thanks. Solid shootin, as always. Just ordered a B14r to start getting into this, hope it treats me well. Unfortunately seems to be few to no organized events in FL that i can find, for NRL22 at least. I picked a really bad time re ammo availability. CCI SV is where SK match used to be, such a bummer. 10krds of minimags for AR conv sitting in the safe, but unfortunately their accuracy seems to pretty much be total doodoo in the bolter. If anyone is looking to trade SV for MM, hit me up.

@XRING2 жыл бұрын
100% mils for me now. Used MOA in the beginning from 1990-2014. I didn’t want to make the change but I am glad I did. For competition use MILS are just so much faster and the reticles are easier to use. Unless you are planning on doing F Class or benchrest I would always recommend MiLS. Using spotting scopes and wind calls the language is the same for everyone. I hope that helps.
