I borrowed my brother in laws dump trailer to haul some , whatta know, stone. It's the first time I used one and it was a game changer, saved me a ton of work
@wildbill23c Жыл бұрын
Dump trailers save a ton of work for sure. Hauled a couple loads of fill dirt last year...that shoveling out of a pickup bed trailer isn't any fun at all. When I picked up the 6 tons of sand/gravel mix a few weeks ago I went down and rented a dump trailer for $50 for 2 hours....made the job quick, easily, and non-back breaking LOL. I thought about buying a dump trailer but they're ridiculously over-priced for no better than they are built, and for no better than the hydraulic lift systems are. Its better to just rent one for the occasional usage I have for one. I had thought about buying a dump trailer and renting it out but people don't take care of anything especially if it isn't their equipment, and the liability of people borrowing it would totally out weigh what I could charge for it.

Hi , I've been watching your channel for years. I seldom make a comment But after pulling Is goose neck trailers for over 20 years I would never go back to a bumper pull. They are easier to back up and easier to get into tighter spots, loaded right they will give you a much better ride over any bumper pull. I pull a 26ft gooseneck daily, thats just my opinion. When you go to look at a trailer you might want to hook into a gooseneck and take it for a ride before you buy, it might change your mine. Keep up the good work. Watch your Channel all the time. My dad has both a pull-behind and a gooseneck for his 2500 high country and I can tell you that the gooseneck pulls a lot better. You can feel it's back there but with the weight over the rear axle of the truck it seems to feel much steadier and under control when loaded than the bumper-pull.

@wildbill23c Жыл бұрын
A gooseneck is a great way to go if you are towing really often and towing heavy loads...better weight positioning over the truck's rear axle VS behind it. Luckily the truck I just picked up a couple months ago has the provisions for a 5th wheel and gooseneck hitch already in it....just need to pickup a hitch, might get both so I can pull either one. It has the above bed rails, which some people don't like because you have to clean them out, but not that big of a deal with an air compressor and blow gun. When I picked the truck up it had an old tonneau cover on it that was falling apart, and the bed was full of leaves, hay, etc. so I had no idea the truck had the 5th wheel prep package until I cleaned it up a few days later. I just have a 3/4 ton pickup, which will be more than enough for anything I'd ever care to pull. Mostly pulling a 7x18 car trailer with my sub-compact tractor and some implements a few times a year....so nothing extremely heavy, but more than a 1/2 ton truck would be comfortable doing.

I wish I would have waited a little longer to buy my truck, when they came out with the gas engine being bigger and went to the 10 speed transmission. I lived in Florida and we bought a house in Missouri and so i never had pulled my tractor on my equipment trailer ever. I put the forks on the tractor and put the bucket on top of that, then strapped it to both the forks and tractor. On the back i had the box blade with a cultivar bolted to that. Now my pick up bed had a floor jack and spare tire for the trailer and other things needed when we moved in. The cab was loaded and just enough room for me to sit. My wife had a small trailer with the zero turn mower and our cats in the back of her SUV. We drove about a mile and I noticed i didn't have enough tongue weight. So we pulled into a empty lot and had to loosen the chains and pull the tractor up and rechained. Everything was good and as we traveled through Florida which usually takes 6 hours of regular driving we finally made it to Georgia and they were having tornado issues. After a few days of bad weather finally made it to the house. As we started from Lebanon MO to our house i also noticed that the tractor had slid back and my wife says do you want to stop and adjust, i say no let's just get there! My truck is a 2018 2500 hd with the gas engine and it pulled better than I thought it would not being diesel. Oh i did get the tach up a few times going up tall grades but it did well. The truck just now turned over to 16,000 miles.

@wildbill23c Жыл бұрын
DO NOT follow the dealer/manufacturer's ridiculously long fluid change intervals, and the transmission fluid is NOT lifetime fluid, it needs changed every 50-60k at a minimum...people skip all this stuff or listen to their dealer/manufacturer for when to change the fluids and then wonder why they have mechanical problems. Don't go beyond a 5k engine oil/filter change either...diesel or not, keep the oil changed, its a heck of a lot cheaper than an engine.
