This Group helped epitomize The Philly Soul Sound. The Lead Singer Russell Tompkins was a major influence on not only Barry Gibb (The Bee Gees) but Jordan Knight Of New Kids On The Block. Another Group Member Thom Bell Co Wrote The Songs with Linda Creed (RIP) who also wrote The Greatest Love Of All that both George Benson & Whitney Houston (RIP) recorded. The Song is actually "You Are Everything" and is a song that has taken a live of it's own. It was the Love Theme for Kevin Arnold & Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, The Late Marvin Gaye & Diana Ross recorded it on a Duet Album and it was also performed on the Finale of Pop Idol when Gareth Gates (the runner up) performed it with Rachel Stevens of S Club 7. A small snippet was also sung on Ripley's Game.

Thom Bell’s melodies and Linda Creed’s lyrics are heaven-sent.

You should really listen to the studio version. And @Robert A, they were not Motown, but from the Philly Sound, which was so different from the Motown sound.

Another to react to is "Rubberband Man" by The Detroit Spinners, or just The Spinners. If you haven't heard it of course.

This was fun seeing the live version. Great song! For me, I prefer the original version because it's slower, smoother and less jazzy, which fits the mood of the song.

Hi, Mommy! Always start with studio version first! It's how you compare live to studio! Studio is the blueprint!

Amazingly the recording was made by Russell Thompkins Jr in 1974..the video you are showing is Russell Thompkins jr and new Stylistics in concert just a few years ago. His voice is still the same. It is Russell, Raymond Johnson, Jonathan Buckstln, Ed Ranton and the keyboard /stage director is Kenneth Thompson who was with the original stylistics band.

Yes air high five and goosebumps, some people when discussing age, they always want you to say your younger. Me personally I love getting older, why well its obvious that from my time we had some amazing music. Thank you Maunalee for my flash back. Yes🥰❤💯✌

Thank you for video. Look at the videos from the 74 when they younger and all of the original singers from the group was there. Russell Tompkins Jr voice in his 20,s was prime. His falsetto was off the hook. Peace

This video she played was Russell Thompkins jr singing the entire song with Raymond Johnson instead of IRIONovd ( not in Russell's new group) and the irigin was 74...this video at Houston concert some 50 years later. Russell still sounds great at 70 years old

Really easy on the ears. Back to Motown. I loved this type of music-very popular back in the day. They certainly don’t produce music like this anymore.

Listen to the audio or studio recording first then listen to the live version next. Very seldom is the live version as good as the studio.

Thx! Loved it! I have them on the “Avco” label! There was also a surge of “the girl bands” which is interesting ie the Ronettes etc. Were you trying to think of the Spinners? Four tops? Dramatics? So many! Thx again! -Terry from Canoga Park
