I did not expect this song AT ALL today. What a great throwback. The subject matter of the lyrics is really sad, but fits in well with Oh, Sleeper’s Christian metalcore sound and theme. It tells the story of a small 2-year-old Israeli girl named Yael passing away while she was hiding from a Palestinian raid on her apartment building. If anyone wants to look up the story, you can find it by searching for “April 22, 1979” which was the date this happened. I’ll issue a trigger warning just in case, because it’s a very violent story, for anyone who looks it up.

the guy doing the clean intro singing is Shane, who for a short bit joined up with the As I Lay Dying guys (minus Tim of course) to form Wovenwar. and that was my introduction to Oh, Sleeper. Also for any metalcore fans, the first Wovenwar album is just a straight banger.

Super stoked to see you doing more metalcore! Oh, Sleeper's newest album is amazing as well. I think metalcore has some really inventive bands outside of the traditional metalcore sound. Here's some of my favorites from the last year that I think you'll appreciate: Thornhill -- I've seen you get some suggestions for these guys. Every song individually off The Dark Pool is incredible, but this album REALLY needs to be heard from front to back as a holistic experience. Maybe if you get into album reviews! Lots of people recommend Where We Go When We Die, Coven, or Nurture, but I'd like to throw in The Haze or Human as amazing tracks off this album that people don't mention as often. These guys are masters at complex atmosphere, layers, and groovy riffs. Invent Animate -- You listened to Erra recently which is my favorite band ever and falls into my favorite sub-genre of progressive metalcore. This band is a POPULAR staple among progressive metalcore fans. They are incredibly atmospheric and groovy and catchy and technical. A lot like Erra but way "darker" for lack of a more precise word. It's a really unique sound in the genre. A real musician's band with great production, song writing and technical riffs. I recommend Dark or Monarch off their latest album. I honestly could recommend every song off of the latest albums from both bands haha. If you like technicality and creative song writing and progressive, unique bands in the metalcore scene these are the two groups I bring up. Thanks for reading!

Hey Chase. Love the reaction videos. I'm really enjoying learning the technical side of the music being played and hearing new music that I have never heard before. I've been watching for a while but only just subscribing now as I realized your content is too good to not be subscribed to even though I have a large sub box already. I have some suggestions for bands that I think you would enjoy reacting to. Slipknot - One of your earliest videos that I can tell was for Solway Firth. I don't know if by now you have listened to the entire We Are Not Your Kind album but if you haven't then Unsainted and Nero Forte are great tracks. EarlyRise - I have seen nobody react to this band. They are a rock band similar to Evanescence and Halestorm from Tel Aviv, Israel. Their entire What If album is amazing (For this debut album the band was a 2 piece. I believe they are a 4 piece now). Top songs to check out would be Become Mad, What If, Old Friend, Shell, and Face Me. Halestorm - You have already done one reaction to this band but more would be amazing. Songs to check out would be It's Not You, Miss the Misery, American Boys, Here's to Us, and Mz. Hyde. Paramore - You reacted to a Hayley Williams song and I think you should check out her band Paramore if you are not familiar. For their more pop rock/synth pop sound I would suggest Rose-Colored Boy, Caught in the Middle, Grudges, and Fake Happy. For their more pop-punk/emo/rock sound I would suggest Ignorance, All I Wanted, [One Of Those] Crazy Girls, and Looking Up. Rise Against - They are a melodic hardcore/punk rock band and my 2nd favorite band. Songs I would suggest would be Grammatizator, Voice of Dissent, Sight Unseen, To Them These Streets Belong, and Anywhere but Here. Deftones - Last suggestion. I'm not sure if you are familiar with Deftones but they have dropped two songs Ohms and Genesis in preparation for their new album coming out soon. If you are not familiar I would also suggest checking out Change (in the House of Flies), My Own Summer (Shove It), Digital Bath, Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away), and You've Seen the Butcher.

@@rocioiribe5841 Yeah I noticed the pattern in pretty much the reaction channels I flitted over. Guess it all boils down to the creators' audience demography. Being an Aussie, the metalcore scene is huge here with bands like Parkway Drive, Northlane, Thornhill, Polaris, Hellions, etc. And metalcore nowadays have evolved. They incorporated new sounds, not just good ol' fast blastbeats. The problem with metalcore community is that fans are divided, some like the evolution while others like to stick to the old sound. Guess same goes to other bands of different genre.

@@rocioiribe5841 so proud of my boys getting recognitions from all over the world. Yeah, people need to understand the phrase 'Metalcore is not dead'. Metalcore is dead if its sound doesn't evolve. I saw so many trash talk on some bands' channels like when they dropped a new album and incorporates a different sound, people would comment like 'this is their downfall' or 'they turned to pop now'. Like, ok that's your opinion and it's fine, but wouldn't it be boring if the band sounds the same throughout their career? I think the US have some hidden gems. Have you listened to anything from Kingdom of Giants or Neon Graves? They have some of the most unique tones in metalcore.
