Even though LP is widely known & loved from Hybrid Theory and Meteora, over time I can say that their transition to more electronical rock was underappreciated at the time. This was one of their best from post-Minutes to Midnight.

Living Things is underrated but I will admit half the album fell flat imo. Burn It Down, Castle of Glass, Lost in the Echo and In My Remains are absolute bangers. I’ll be gone was decent. Everything else was eh and I hate how they add that autotune effect to Mike’s rapping.

If you want to experience and understand the TRUE talent of how amazing Linkin Park is...listen to QWERTY. Chester's talent to go from singing to screaming was effortless, Mike rapping the verses and the drums and guitar to add true rock goes so well. Personally I believe no other band can incorporate so many genres of music in one song and make it sound so awesome. Chesters screams are always on point with Mike's rapping which I'm sure is something real hard to do. QWERTY sums up the uniqueness of Linkin Park. R.I.P. Chester (The man who saved me ftom myself)

Another thing i like about the song, is that the beat really represents the title all on its own, Lost in the Echo. And some of the lines also help solidify it. For example there is a lot of noise and chaotic instruments that makes the noise but it works out because each one gets lost in the other's echo, making a harmony that is really enjoyable to listen to.

Linkin Park has never been confined to a single thing. They started out as a rap metal band, then transitioned to alt-rock, electronic rap-rock, and more of a metal sound before their last album was pop. They've collared with Jay-Z, Steve Aoki, Busta Rhymes, Rakim, and members of System of a Down and Rage Against The Machine. While I may have my favorite and least favorite songs and albums by them, I can say that they have several great songs in every genre they've tried. I can't say that about many artists, most artists, especially rock bands, tend to fall apart when they try a different sound.

First of all, linkin park, always a pass: Secondly, Rock With rappers and a synth is pretty much indicative of all pure NU Metal. Before some blowhard corrects me, yes some bands are technically quantified NU Metal Like Slipknot where its just Metal, but that's more indicative over the time the band started having hits, rather than music styling. For the most part, A synth or a rapper is incorporated in a lot of early NU metal. An example, Korn: Reppin' the West coast while a metal band. LayedBak said it best himself: "I did not expect the Demonic Beatbox"
@NikoGoKrazy2 жыл бұрын
No, you right bro. At least that sounds about right to me.
@therpgerer2 жыл бұрын
Even slipknot incorporated a lot of rap influence in their early days. Spit it out, only one, No Life. Plus turntables, and a lack of solos, though in truth Nu Metal(in its pure form) was just Alternative Metal, combined with another non-metal genre. Grunge/post-grunge and/or hip hop just happened to be the most common. That's why bands like Staind(first album) Linkin Park, Dope, Slipknot, Mudvayne, and System of a down were all put in the Nu-metal umbrella despite not sharing a lot in common musically.

Honestly how much we gotta donate to get you to do a reaction to a long playlist of “Linkin Park through the ages”? They went through a LOT of changes representing their growing emotions and journey from a broken place to finding self worth to ultimately (and sadly) Chester’s growing inability to cope with life and the death of his friend Chris Cornell. I listen to a lot of musicians, but Linkin Park is one of the only bands I can personally say always told their story. They never sold us some bs. They didn’t do what they thought people would enjoy, and they didn’t censor themselves for popularity. Chester sings about drug addiction, the struggles with breaking the habit (literally. They have a song called Breaking the Habit). He sings about his depression and his lack of self worth in some songs. He hints at his past traumas. He was sexually abused as a young kid, and that haunted him. They have songs detailing their frustrations at being told they should go back to doing metal when they branched out into more techno/rap stuff. Chester wrote a song to his kids even. It’s extremely raw. They basically used zero editing on his vocals for that one song. It’s a legitimate lullaby for his children. “This melody will always bring you right back home” I don’t know too many people who want to put themselves out there so unfiltered for potentially the entire world to see.
