In 4 days, it will be the 1 year anniversary of when Hi Ren premiered. It currently has over 22 million views. I think it would be really cool for all of the reactors to make a video for Ren, telling him what an impact he has had on us all this past year. He's changed lives.

Manu Chao is a French guy and an ethnic Basque, his parents are Basques from Spain who immigrated from Spain to France. I assume because of the at that time in Spain reigning "Franco-Regime" who oppressed the Basques extremely. Just my guess but it is very likely. The Basques are an small ethnic group (a bit over 2 million people) who are located in the Pyrenees mountain range along the North Atlantic coastline where a part of that socalled "Basque region" is in Spain and the other part of that region is in France. In the Middle ages the Basque region was its own Kingdom and the town "Bilbao" which is in today´s Spain was the King´s residence capitol. And the Basques are living there for at least over 9000 years according to archeologist foundings/some scholars even say since the end of the last big Ice Age = 11000 years so their Basque language is not an language of the "Proto-Indo-European language family" which is the common ancestor language for all those other ancient European languages like all Proto-Celtic languages or Old Greek or Latin or the Proto-Germanic and Proto-Slavic languages which are the ancestor languages of all modern European languages ..in other words the Basques were already there before all those other ethnic groups like the Celts, the ancient Greek, the old Germanic tribes the Slavic tribes etc settled in Europe

I absolutely think the reason why people love Ren and The Big Push is that they're bringing back some real musicality, real instruments, bringing back variety in sounds & subjects of songs etc. Just pure talent with instruments, great vocals not distorted by autotune to sound like literally every single other 'artitst' & talking either about real stuff or just fun stuff, not just poser crap trying to look tough or cool or hot. Bringing humanity and human-ness back into music. I know that's why so many GenXers are loving these guys so much, they're bringing back music so it's recognizable to us, including the style of hip hop Ren does..old school with his new flair. And of course Ren brings an authenticity to everything he does, colored by the horrible physical and mental suffering he experienced. A breath of fresh air in music, finally!!! Been waiting 20yrs for this!

Totally on point! When I found that The Big Push did a cover of this song in a fresh live arrangement I was so stoked! I remember grooving to this song in my house, hangin' with my friends in my 20s. Theirs is a movement back to relatable, listenable music right now and I'm here for it!

@@clarissathompson Exactly! It's almost a feeling of relief that great music hasn't been totally abandoned. As with music, fashion, art, architecture etc, there are cycles & evolution, and I'm not surprised at all that people are responding so viscerally to Ren and The Big Push. People are craving authenticity & back to the fundamentals, with new inventiveness, of course. Even young people who've grown up without very much variety in music and not much w/actual instruments or creativity, they're also realizing they 'miss' what they never knew they were missing.

@@jenniferfoster1692 I’ve been very lucky, I worked as a bouncer in a nightclub for years and our small town has always attracted amazing musicians and DJs, our community also hosts an outdoor EDM/arts festival going into its 25th year next summer, I’ve worked at it since 2008. My community is heavily arts driven. Thanks to these factors I’ve been hearing great music for years, but it’s been very fringe and underground. Ren and his friends remind me of my music college days, jamming with friends, doing it all ourselves, designing gig posters, but with the new tools and opportunities this generation enjoys. They have brought connection back on a larger scale and I can’t wait to see and hear more!

The trade lead in singing, the trade guitars between eclectic, acoustic, etc. Although he's not here apparently the drummer Glenn is actually a guitar player too, he is just the best on drums so he ended up doing that. So Much Talent. Swan Song is a whole different vibe too.

Many Chao is French off Spanish decent, but I believe there was also some confection to the Tunisian French communities. He is great. I know Ren met Sam while he (Sam) was busking as a teenager. All big push members are individual buskers, and Brighton is a creativity Mekka. They also used to live together. Not sure if they met through busking or while looking for housemates. BP, you should do a road trip!

Manu Chao was a member of a french group called MANO NEGRA which sing in french, engiish, spanish (or portuguese?) and even arabian. (i have two of their albums) After they split, Manu start a solo carrier of which i have only the album Clandestino from which the bongo bong and Je ne t'aime plus songs come from. It's 2 song that blend together. For the beat that intrigue mr. Roo, in the original, is highly inspire by a circus music box that you need to crank to get a repetitive beat.

Another great reaction. Can you please react to the Big Push and their original songs? They put out an EP with 6 tracks called Can Do Will Do. They're bangers and you hear once again another sound from them and Ren. Ones Punk, one sound as if John Lennon co=wrote it.
