I can’t believe Brad missed the part about how it starts with knuckle deep within the border line, to elbow deep within the borderline, and finally shoulder deep within the border line The song isn’t about addiction like he said, it’s about how shock value has lost its value since nothing surprises us anymore

@@maxotto9877 the desensitization he’s referring to came on the heels of all sorts of wild media in the 90s Nine Inch Nails literally made a torture porn video, and though they don’t explicitly refrence anything, that stuff was part of the zeitgeist that I think Maynard is being critical of

@@icebough4191 Stinkfist and Closer are both songs using extreme sex as metaphor for hedonistic adaptation and desensitization. Tool's videos at the time were all abstract horror claymation directed by Adam, so they were very much a part of the dark and weird 90s aesthetic. and Maynard and Trent have apparently been friends for years (Billy Howerdel from APC hooked them up). they've collaborated under the name Tapeworm.

Bill Hicks was hugely influential on me in the early 90s. The title track on this album is based on one of his routines about hoping an earthquake destroys LA. I’d love for you to listen to his stand up albums and see if they still resonate with people in the current climate seeing as he was railing against stupidity, corruption and power which are clearly fixed now.

Aenima is my All Time Favorite Album But Deftones is my favorite Group. In 2000 I went to a record store looking for an album by Tool that had a song that said "Learn to Swim Learn to swim" (Really what I was asking back then to the clerk). Ended up picking up this CD after being shown the Tool section by the clerk, I was like WTF no song titles on the front or back but darn I'm gonna take a chance anyways. As of today since that day. For me personally Aenima is without a doubt the Best and most Important Life saving Piece of Art ever made.

Although it’s true that most tool songs are in D, this is not always the case. The keys that are provided on spotify are not always correct, Ænema for example is in E. And what often gives their songs a very unique feel is the use of tonalities like Dorian or Phrygian instead of the usual Major / minor.

Hey brad, this comment might get lost in the mix but you should react to 10,000 days. It is my personal favorite album of theirs and is definitely on par with lateralus and aenima. I bet you would love it.

It’s been like 20 years since I purchased this album and became obsessed with it and I just learned three months ago that the song Ænema is spelled differently than the album Ænima.

Hey Brad and chat, i want to apologise for the comment that is shown in the video, i definitibly used the worst word possible to describe what i wanted to say (english is not my native language). What i wanted to say with that commnet is that it would be a stupidit listen the entire of Dopesmoker by Sleep because is a track with 1 hour lenght and one riff through the entire track. Again i want to apologise for the bad use of my words in the moment. Love you Brad

While Tool doesn’t alway do it for me, I’m happy that you are really enjoying it. I can’t recommend the band TesseracT enough. They really take a lot of the qualities that make Tool great and improve upon them, bringing that sound into the present day. Really awesome grooves and riffs, massive cavernous ambience, and strong vocals. Not saying that you should do a reaction to their music, but check them out sometime.

I've heard of them, will have to check them out. I love the grooves of tool I'm just over the luciferian/gnostic/new-age drug spirituality lyrics and how I used to think (and tool fans still think) they're so deep. My quote on third eye is a perfect example of the nonsense I used to believe before I faked my death and became Alex Jones.
