Tool's videos at the time were all abstract horror claymation directed by Adam, so they were very much a part of the dark and weird 90s aesthetic. and Maynard and Trent have apparently been friends for years (Billy Howerdel from APC hooked them up). they've collaborated under the name Tapeworm.

Fuck yes! One of the first metal albums I ever bought and still in my top ten albums of all time! The "hey hey heys," the bill hicks clips, 3 of my favorite tool songs (Stinkfist, Pushit, Ænema) and the drumming is amazing!! This is groundbreaking and will make you a true tool fan

Trying to decide if Aenima or Lateralus is better is really a difficult conversation. I personally look at each Tool album, not as which one is better, but that each album just brings a different feeling to it. I honestly don’t have a favorite Tool album, I just love them all for different reasons.

Bill Hicks was hugely influential on me in the early 90s. The title track on this album is based on one of his routines about hoping an earthquake destroys LA. I’d love for you to listen to his stand up albums and see if they still resonate with people in the current climate seeing as he was railing against stupidity, corruption and power which are clearly fixed now.

Aenima is my All Time Favorite Album But Deftones is my favorite Group. In 2000 I went to a record store looking for an album by Tool that had a song that said "Learn to Swim Learn to swim" (Really what I was asking back then to the clerk). Ended up picking up this CD after being shown the Tool section by the clerk, I was like WTF no song titles on the front or back but darn I'm gonna take a chance anyways. As of today since that day. For me personally Aenima is without a doubt the Best and most Important Life saving Piece of Art ever made.

What Tool fans are really like: Listen to this awesome music, man. Don’t worry if you don’t get it, Tool is not for everyone. It’s less music and more of an experience. But please give them a try, it may grow on you. When you confuse Tool fans for Radiohead fans.

I think this just goes to prove you that the loudest and most annoying members of a fan base will always be its biggest ambassadors. I've contrarily found Radiohead fans to be the most self deprecating and memey and humorous of any fanbase, so it just goes to show goes to show you how public perception is of fanbases. Annoying Tool fans and annoying Radiohead fans are both too insufferable to say which is worse.

I haven't heard Third Eye in such a long time. Hearing it again it almost feels like the first time. That, for some reason might be my favorite song of all time.. The whole song is such an overwhelming experience, it makes me feel shit I rarely come in contact with.. Holy fuck dude the goosebumps, the whole song is a fantastic journey of strangeness and discovery.

Although it’s true that most tool songs are in D, this is not always the case. The keys that are provided on spotify are not always correct, Ænema for example is in E. And what often gives their songs a very unique feel is the use of tonalities like Dorian or Phrygian instead of the usual Major / minor.

I discovered Tool last year when my dad said he thinks I’d like Hooker with a Penis (my dad has a weird way of recommending bands to me). I listened to Schism, and then The Pot, and then Sober. 46 and two is my favorite bass song. And Lateralus is pretty damn cool. Just heard Hooker with a Penis for the first time actually. I recommend Perfect Circle to any Meynard Fans. It’s his other band. Puscifer is also pretty good.

While Tool doesn’t alway do it for me, I’m happy that you are really enjoying it. I can’t recommend the band TesseracT enough. They really take a lot of the qualities that make Tool great and improve upon them, bringing that sound into the present day. Really awesome grooves and riffs, massive cavernous ambience, and strong vocals. Not saying that you should do a reaction to their music, but check them out sometime.

H. Started my love for tool. I listened to them since middle school but didn't really care. Some months ago i heard H. Then boom now i listen to them religiously(after 7 years). Kinda sad for loosing all those years.
