As you discovered his voice is like another musical instrument so much variety. IMHO No one else has a voice like his. One of my favorite songs. This song came out in 1971 while I was in college and was played countless times during that time and since then.

Van Morrison's recording career spans nearly seven decades. He is is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter & can play guitar, harmonica, keyboards & saxophone. In the mid 60's he was in the band "THEM" & their biggest hits were "Gloria", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Here Comes The Night" & "Mystic Eyes". Van Morrison later went solo & has had tons of hits such as "Brown Eyed Girl", "It Stoned Me", "Into The Mystic", "Moondance", "Crazy Love", "Jackie Wilson Said", "Days Like This" etc.

My absolute favorite song of his. When this tune played on the radio you couldn't help but get enveloped by it no matter what mood you were in, kinda like honey.

Such a simple song, it would have been a throwaway for most people. But Van put so much passion and feeling into it, that it was an instant classic. No one else would have sung it that way, or even could have. That was *all* Van Morrison 👍😎

Tupelo honey is one of the rarest honeys in the world, and for centuries, it was an under-the-radar delicacy found in some regions of swamps and waters in Georgia and Florida, where the white Ogeechee tupelo tree blooms for just a tiny period. Real Tubelo has a slight golden-greenish color and has a touch of a cinnamon, sweet flower taste.

In the nine songs on "Tupelo Honey", Van Morrison sings almost exclusively the hymn of love to his then wife Janet Planet in 1971. In the process, he created some of his most beautiful compositions: In addition to the sweet title song and the ballads "You're My Woman" and "Old Old Woodstock", the rhythm & bluesy songs "Starting A New Life" and "(Straight To Your Heart) Like A Cannonball". Another highlight is the storming "Wild Night", one of Morrison's few US single successes.

The great Irish singer/songwriter Van Morrison. I remember when he and his first Band "Them," had their first hit song (Gloria) back in 1965. I was 9 yrs. old The rest is History, with "Brown Eyed Girl," "Moondance," "Wild Night" and so many more. So much soul in this man.

I loved your reaction, Van Morrison is great too from time to time. I think the first time I heard that was in 1974. I always thought the honey came from Tupelo Mississippi. As I got older, I started wondering if he was talking about the sensual sense of the word.

I saw Van perform in a night club in 1981. The Inn of the Beginning in Cotati, California. Maybe a 150 of us crammed into the room on a hot summer night. Charged. Intense. Perfect. By the way, I could watch you all day. Thank you.

Van was notoriously moody. I went to see him in concert ( it was brilliant ) but he came on in a long black coat and big black hat, never took them off and never spoke a word all night. He didn’t introduce any of his songs so if you didn’t know his catalogue you were stuffed!!!!
