My first bike was a 160 Honda Dream. I later owned much bigger bikes up to Norton 750 but the Little 160 Dream will always be my favorite memory. I took it off road a lot and badly abused the poor little bike including jumping it but I have wonderful memories of the little bike.

Restored and rode a '65 Dream from '78 to '83. Then, all my friends found and restored their own and we rode together alot of the time. 305's, 180's and I think there was a 160 Dream too? Last I heard my Uncle Rocky had restored mine and sold it to a Fresno Honda dealership for their front window [late 80's]. Wish I'd kept it.

Never owned one but driven a couple as a kid. They were like little Harley's with their Gladiator looking Hemet front fender and for their times when all dressed up with bags and a wind shield they were not expected to be real quick compared to then still the popular two stokes down at 250cc twins , but the 305 dreams could still make about 80-85 mph on the level after some rolling. Having no tach but using gear number related to speed by lines worked out alright. Another interesting thing is later on Honda went to a 180 crank with twin carbs on their Hawks and Super Hawks both now with tube frames replacing the pressed sheet metal frames the 305 dreams were and keeping the 305cc displacement however the 305 dream having a 360 degree crank because they used one carb I would say gave them a nicer running sound than the 180 degree cranks when the motor was both either idling or pulling.I believe the 305 dream was rated around 27hp and the hawks were in the low 30's

Owned and drove a '66 305 Dream from 1969-1975. Front fork was very supple, nice to drive. Drove Nova Scotia to Montreal in a single day one time. Mine had factory turn signals, fronts were on handlebars, rears on the rectangular pads you can see on your rear fenders. Handlebars were less "cow-horny" than yours, if memory serves. Bought for $300 Cdn., sold for same 6 years later. Electric start ony good when bike was warmed up, battery not quite powerful enough for cold starts.

Once in days gone by my mate bought this model and used to take pleasure in out-accelerating me, I used to drive a Velocette Venom. Towards the top speed I would pass him but it took a while to overtake him on the local bypasses here in the UK. It was a really good bike to ride and more reliable than the Velocette lol One winter night we were out in the hills of Wales when we had to descend some roads that were iced over> He had fun controlling his lighter bike,, well I sort of came down sideway on the road and fortunately, the Velo was stable even for its weight and slid down the road with me bolt upright and barely able to breathe and hoping we did not meet a car coming up the hill, It was a shame when one day he managed to accelerate his bike under a wagon but lived to tell the tale,

My first bike (1968) was a 305 Dream (used) and I loved that bike rode it everywhere. I hit some hard times in the 80's and let it go. Had a couple Zuki's after it then I got a 1997 vt1100 ACE that I love and have been riding for 20 years. Now I'm 75 and I don't want to give up riding but the ACE is 674 lbs and getting to heavy to Flintstone lol. My 305 was exactly like yours and I'm am thinking about trying to find another one to ride around locally. My long trip days are over lol. It would be half the weight and just as much fun. I love the ACE, single pin crank, Harley sound. (the lawsuit bike lol). But I need something lighter. Love what you have done, excellent videos. Thanks

Awesome project. I had a 1966 Dream just like yours (except it was black), in 1972. Unfortunately, I was riding on the interstate when the old-style tube type rear tire blew out, and I lost control, crashing at 70 MPH. I was carrying a passenger too. Luckily, except for some scrapes and bruises, we were uninjured, but the bike was totaled. Tube tires are no joke! Be careful! Modern tubeless are much safer. Nonetheless, I wish I had that bike. Today I ride a 1998 Valkyrie.
