Great video guys, but I have to critique one thing. Jordan says Tesla advertises that V13 will drive you to a supercharger stall and back in for you. Where have they done that? It's not actually an advertised feature yet. Sometimes it will do that, but it's not something it claims to do. People have just shown it doing it so people assume it's a fully supported feature. In fact, self parking on FSD is not an officially supported feature yet either, even though sometimes it does it. I think expectations are starting to get a little bit ahead of reality at this point due to all of the improvements Tesla has been making.

I’ve never seen it advertised in its current version that it auto parks to a supercharger stall. In future versions, I’ve seen it promised. At the 51 minute mark, your navigation was completed and automatically put itself in park, which is why you couldn’t move forward Also more Jess, it was nice to see a new perspective.
@tonyvelasco5732

This version does not advertise that it can park itself at chargers. Parking is an upcoming feature. It is not specifically in this version designed to park correctly at your destination supercharger or elsewhere. Sometimes it will, sometimes it won't, and it isn't designed to in this version. There is no need to hit the brake to turn it on and off as that's just a checkbox that you can check or uncheck. When I get to my parking lot at work each morning, FSD completes in front of the front doors. Then I tell it to pick a parking spot using the auto park feature, and it parks itself. That's as it is currently designed. This version's breakthrough new features are to be smoother, to make better lane changes and lane decisions in prep for turns, to be able to start from a parking spot, and to be able to go in reverse when it gets into difficult situations when necessary. It also U turns much better than prior versions.

@gchetail

I agree. Traction is not the real problem in snow conditions. it's stopping/braking. so the snow tires are really important.
@Steinegal
@Steinegal 9 күн бұрын
Yeah living in Northern Norway winter tires are mandated for snow and ice conditions and we usually have snow and ice on roads from October until May, AWD can help you get out of a sticky situation and getting up to speed faster, but you might get into trouble because you can’t stop fast enough or getting down the steep hill is harder than going up. It is especially common to see SUVs in the ditch as they think they are invincible on icy roads😅

I wanted to correct you about something. The parking feature for FSD. Is not available yet. Fully. So technically it does park, sometimes They did not. Put the UI. In the software. So, you can choose what you wanted to do when it arrives. So right now, a randomly chooses if it is a stops. Or parks, etc. That's coming in a future release.

For what it's worth, I've found that the ability to toggle back and forth between the display for % of charge remaining vs. miles remaining, just tap it. This makes it easy to compare with the _distance_ to your next charging stop. Apples to apples allows increased confidence. Two things about FSD 13.2.2 - 1. None of the versions have ever recognized handicap only parking. 2. Even this version still does not handle _diagonal_ parking, which is what the diagonal stripes marking out the handicap wheelchair loading zone looked like. Confusion!
@llcooljay66

13.2.2 doesn't have parking yet per the notes. You need to park or break it out and select a stall via auto park. It will try to park but a robot taxi won't need to park

The parking at destination isn’t actually complete yet, but you can tell that it’s in the programming because it tries to do it sometimes even now. Auto park without driver input at destination is set to come out in a later point release, I’m sure it will be better when that’s official. It is fun to see what it will do though. 😂

I’m not sure that’s true that’s it’s not included. When navigating to a charger, it auto parks for me without selecting a spot. I don’t know what else this would be doing if it’s not auto parking (it pulls in and backs up to a stall…..though it kept trying to park in the handicap stall)
@6GZL1
@6GZL1 16 күн бұрын
@ it’s listed as an upcoming feature, not current. It also doesn’t consistently park or always park correctly at the destination. It’s definitely not completed yet. As I said, you can tell that it’s in the works because it does park or attempt to park in some situations.

I've been loving FSD for my regular trip from Tucson to LA and back. The only issue I have is at night when I'm the only car on the road it'll say "side camera blocked, FSD degraded" just because there isn't enough light. If I'm in FSD, it'll keep working, but if I have to disengage for any reason, I won't be able to reengage (sometimes for MILES) until there's a car on my side to shine enough light around me. Kinda frustrating. FWIW, I think the v13 autopark needs work as well. It's flawless when I disengage, spots show up on screen, and I pick one. But, I've had it even pull in front first to a supercharger when I let it park itself 🤣.

I have the exact same car as you, Jordan, including white interior. I traded in my 2023 RWD for this one. You’re right in that it’s next level; the car rides significantly quieter and smoother. I used to have a 2015 Lexus ES350 and the refreshed M3 rides similar. But with better tech of course!! I had the opportunity to use the FSD on a short road trip earlier this week and it’s impressive. The automatic lane changes are perfection and it’s nice to not have to touch the wheel at all.

You really don't save any money using an EV for long trips when compared to a similar ICE vehicle, and you have to spend more time charging. It is a good reason for a multicar household to have an EV for daily trips and an ICE for long trips. It's also why I'm so disappointed vehicles like the Chevy Volt were discontinued, they were the perfect combination of EV power for around town and 50mpg hybrid ICE for long trips. I miss my Volt, real shame there aren't more series hybrids/EVs with gasoline range extenders. I remember only filling up 1 time in 9 months in my Volt.
@malcewicz

You guys really don't appreciate how cheap gas really is in the US. I live in Europe and the same trip in an EV is 1.5x to even 2x cheaper than ICE. Honestly though even if it's the same price I'd still say it's worth it because of all the savings on daily trips.

You won't find many Ev's in the city its self, you''ll see them much more in the suburbs on the Ks side (Johnson County). It cost me more to drive to Colorado Springs with 5 stops vs coming back to Kc with 4 stops. It would be helpful if Out Of Spec could do a state of ADS 2025 overview video. I don't know if Telsa releases data on FSD subscriptions and usage but clearly it's the most capable. But are ppl using it? I've been confused why Lucid with all its hardware has de-prioritized driver assist so much...an absolute deal killer for me as are mapped highway only systems. Is Lucid really going to fix that anytime soon? If Musk succeeds in getting the NHTSA to ease up, what 2nd place manufacturer is best positioned to capture market share? Hyundai or will Supercruise/Bluecruise become available on most roads?? You guys seem to have the manufacturer contacts... what are you hearing? Thanks for all your infotainment videos!

Lucid is making huge net losses, like unfathomably large, last quote I've seen was from Q2 and it came up as -$328,000 per vehicle sold. Making a competitive ADAS requires a lot of work and money, so I guess Lucid thought it wasn't a priority, as they're losing enough money as is

You should do more "completely new to..." newbie moments. Last spring, my wife and I bought our first EV, an old Leaf, and also just for the Tesla experience, rented a Model 3LR and drove it for a vacation from Longmont to Harrisburg, PA, visiting family. This is hard to admit. As an EV enthusiast and follower of Out of Spec and several other EV channels, I learned all about road tripping, charge curves, charger hipping, etc. But somehow I totally missed how to charge. That is, I didn't know about the button on the Supercharger handle. The whole week I either just tapped the handle on the door, or used the app, or the car screen. Embarrassing in retrospect, a new cyber truck owner at a supercharger asked me how to do it, and I passed on my ignorance. So, I really appreciate the little newbie moments.

You want to arrive with a high charge level at your destination so that you don't have to charge immediately before you leave. Tesla's don't have manual preconditioning so going to a nearby Supercharger sucks, you always want to go to one that's far enough away so that there is time to precondition the battery. We spent New Year's in Portland Maine. We picked up takeout Dim Sum and then went to the Portland Supercharger which is less than a mile from the restaurant. The charging speed was awful, around 60KW because the temperature was chilly and you can't do much preconditioning in .7 mile. In our case the slow speed was a plus because we were eating our Dim Sum and it gave us enough time to finish. But unless you are doing what we were, eating a meal, you want to splash and dash so always arrive with enough juice so that you can drive an hour before the first Supercharger stop.

LOL similar issue with Hyundai... no manual, although I can leave the car in park 'navigating' to the charger to get some heat in the battery but practically can only due this at home in the garage (the Hyundai has 2 yrs of free charging, so cheaper to pop over to a local super charger).

@@jamesa4289@jamesa4289 Free charging isn't cheap unless you value your time at 0. You only get so many minutes on this earth and you can't buy more. One of best benefits of owning an EV is that you waste less of your precious life tending to the needs of your car. Not having to drive to a gas station is 10 to 15 hours a year that you get back. That's worth way more then the few dollars you save on your electric bill.

What speed where you guys cruising at ? Cuz if the car can do 160wh/km with 2 people and air conditioning on, it's def more efficient than other cars you've driven... If you kept cruising at 70mph... It's easier to predict the somewhat accurate range from this information

I live in Overland Park, KS and I agree that Chicago doesn't seem like the Midwest like KC and Denver do. Also you said you didn't see many EVs in KC. Living on the KS side I see many more EVs than I do on the MO side where you two were. I think Johnson County KS has a lot of EVs for a county/state that doesn't have any EV incentives.

As someone who is from Kansas City Missouri I used to go Whitewater rafting in Colorado every spring and driving across Kansas is the most boring drive in the United States.

I had a Red Tiger. The battery immediately died after like 2 uses and I sent it back, they promised a replacement, didn't send one. They claimed they had, although couldn't provide a tracking reference. I had to request a non-provision of goods through my credit card provider to get my money back.

Model Y owner in the midwest, Rural WI, FSD v13 has been really good. Similar experience to you. Parking is unreliable, but actual driving is great. My biggest concern is when it pulls out in traffic, I doesn't accelerate as much as I'd like it to, and speed limits are weird (i'd like it to just go 5 over, but that seems to be a challenge at the moment). Can you submit requests where the car has the wrong speed limit (especially unmarked roads)?

I was doing these FSD videos for a while and realized that I spent the whole time complaining about a few little issues that FSD got wrong while FSD was driving me around for 2 hours, lol.
