FIRST SAIL on a Leopard 47 catamaran [Ep3 RED SEAS]

As we finally leave Blue Lagoon on St Vincent, we raise the sails for the first time and really test how the Leopard 47 catamaran moves. We sail to Union Island, the most southerly point in the Grenadines and get our PCR tests so we can enter Grenada.

Bravo, another real adventure. I rather enjoy watching you face down the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, overcoming the daily grind to triumph as you discover paradise. I know exactly the feeling you were mentioning Brioni. That momentary anxiety when you hear an unfamiliar thump and you have to investigate, but you'd rather chill. Or when you're not exactly sure where to go or what the local procedure is. I am armchair stressing with you. Wishing you both fair wind in your sails and worthy seas as you wend your way onward.

We hear you. It was unfortunate that we didn’t catch the anchoring. As we were both so new to the cat, we were a little overwhelmed when we finally made it to the safety of the bay. Sun going down, dragging anchors and other boats, all made for a filming challenge. We are certainly working on it to make capturing the process easier and entertaining. When I work out a way to explain sail handling, I’ll definitely share it. 😂 we were lucky enough to have a straight line sail from st vincent to Union so really the only handling was unrolling and furling the jib. Probably the best we could have asked for between the two of us and our nerves for our first passage. We are looking forward to sharing more as the story unfolds. There is plenty still to come. 😀

Finally got a chance to show son, but forgot about the Covid test part - he didn't like that. Liked the swimming part and we had to discuss whyyou can't go swimming while the boat is moving :-) Great Job!

Great video! Did you figure out if the boat noise/slamming is just normal for a cat? Or is your bridgedeck particularly low- perhaps from boat being overloaded? Is waterline suggesting she is sitting low?

Yes, the Leopard 47 is particularly low so does get a bit more hull slap than other, higher cats.
