Finally starting my Cummins Land Rover Discovery project! Sounds so great at only half boost so far & 4,000 rpm!
~ PART#35 in a project dubbed "Nanuuq" to swap out my lifted Land Rover Discovery 2's blown 4.0L V8 & boring ZF auto for a Cummins 4BT 3.9L turbo (Holset Super HX30W) diesel 4-cylinder engine (Bosch P7100 pump) with an NV4500 5-speed manual transmission. The AWD 4x4 will remain with the LT230 transfer case divorced behind it all, & plenty of Dodge 6BT parts too. Another big phase of my custom DIY build to create a do-just-about-anything off-road / overland rig. Did I mention it's a camper too?
~ BUILD THREAD: (Entire build) hwww.overlandbound.com/forums/...
~ BUILD THREAD: (4BT specific) www.4btswaps.com/threads/100657/
~ DISCLAIMER: Please do not do/repeat/imitate/recreate anything I do in my videos. JUST DON'T! It can be very harmful to bystanders, your person, your wallet, & your psyche. Don't risk the only "meat vehicle" you get!

*Skip to the start-up? [Click here > **15:39**]* _NOTE: I'm swapping the Valvoline for Redline MT85 due to a mixup with trans suppliers recommendations. Because as it turns out that SynPower stuff is "iffy" for the NV4500, but the Redline oil's on point with New Venture's (the trans manufacturer) specifications_ 👍

IT had to happen but nothing is ever guaranteed. I've had the pleasure of hearing a 6.3 V8 GMC diesel in a 110 Land Rover and a 3.5 litre 4BTD Isuzu in a classic Range Rover as well. This thing is so freaking badass! It was mine and I could add one more thing to it, I'd a C.T.I.S. (C-central T-tire I-inflation S-system) to it which would just put it over the top and make it better than all of your friends vehicles. It would also make it so much more capable in any and all terrain you put it through. For those who don't know what C.T.I.S. is well it's a central tire inflation system which allows you to deflate or inflate your tires from inside the vehicle. So if you are off-roading and end up in a area with a lot of rocks that you didn't plan on, then you can deflate you tires to give better traction but also once past that obstacle you will be able to reinflate the tires. Another great feature you get with C.T.I.S. is run flat, where if you puncture a tire and can't repair it or don't have a spare you can press the emergency tire button which pumps air into that specific tire constantly to keep it inflated so you can get to a area to fix it or change it. The military uses it on most of their vehicles and since they do it makes it easier to find a whole kit from say a junk yard or eBay for pretty cheap. Oh yeah 1 other thing I would definitely add as well is portal axles. Which are found on unimogs for a solid axle or you can find independent portal axles on military Hummers. What is a portal axle? Well it's basically a axle with a extra gear box at the end where you Mount the tires which not only gives you a 30% gear reduction but also drops the wheel hub up to 6inchs lower which in return pushes the axle.upward giving you a extra 6 inches of ground clearance from the axle. Whit having a extra 30% gear reduction takes some of the strain off your engine and transmission helping them run cooler so you can also run larger tires without over working the engine and transmission. You can also change the gearing to give more reduction but less wheel speed for like rock crawling or less reduction for a higher wheel speed. Okay I'll stop here lol sorry for the long ass comment but when I start talking about 4x4,s and off roading I tend to not stop lol just very passionate about it. Thanks for reading this and have a great day.

I've got the modified Humvee wheels which have the ports for the CTIS and both my engine & transmission have PTO connections with options for air pumps... coincidence? Maybe. Haha!

Hell yeah love that Cummins sound, you had me hooked since the beginning think of putting one in my Chevy luv how the the vibration?? I forgot if you used solid engine mounts or liquid based ones? Also if you dont need that supercharger laying on the floor I'd gladly put it on my 2v v6 mustang 😂 keep up the great work!!

It's quite a bit smoother than everyone was telling me, but I haven't had her down the road just yet so we'll see how it is living with it. I used the rubber sandwich mounts like the stock 6BT's had. Impressed with them so far. I have a whole pile of boost devices In the corner haha!

@@Tinker1837 Tinker Really, yeah I bet those help out vibration, I've driven a lot of Cummins trucks 6.7 so nothing mechanical like the older ones but I drive a 2016 4500 and besides having a really stiff (everything) its pretty smooth. Hah that's funny :)) I'd like to show u some of my projects but I bet your quite busy maybe a I'll be a KZbinr some day and you'll be watching me hah have good one man!!
