First time bringing the float tube out in 2024 and I decided to go fish Deer Creek Reservoir. Had flat calm sunny skies but managed to figure out what the fish were doing. Fun day overall. Bob's Baitfish Ball is absolutely killer on our deep Utah reservoirs.

@@TroutFlies Thanks for the reply! I just got my pontoon this winter and I've been leary off taking in water cold enough to kill you without being more familiar with it. Now that things are warming up I'm going to go learn. I used to kayak in freezing weather to duck hunt in Decker Bay, but that was a long time ago, and I consider my self a little wiser now.

Good to see your first stillwater outing of 2024. I'm happy with how nice the rainbow population has been showing these past couple of years in DC. You did a good job of analyzing and testing different things until you figured out what the fish were up to. I need more discipline like you demonstrate. 👌

Thats the fun of stillwaters, there is a lot more to figure out than rivers and creeks, so it feels super rewarding when you put things together.

do you think a pedal drive kayak would work well for a stillwater rig?

I've considered a nice kayak as an option because I'd like to fish some Kayak bass tournaments also. I worry about the pedals being a nightmare for fly line. I would think a stripping basket or net would be a necessity.
