This song was meant to look back on his childhood when he became a dancer. Hobi started dancing at only ten years old. He was the youngest member of Neuron. It sounds retro because that was the music he listened to back then. The two rappers who featured are greats in the Korean hip hop industry. Hobi gets out of the military in October!

J-Hope put together the HOPE ON THE STREET docu-series to get back to where it all began, and he travelled around the World (Seoul, S. Korea; Paris, France; New York, USA; and Gwanju, S. Korea), meeting experts in different types of street dance, to learn from them and to discover what he wants to do with his dance moving forward. Some of them he already knew and had worked with them. Excellent docu-series, I highly suggest it. There are five episodes out right now, and tomorrow will be the last one to drop in this season. *If you have a chance, PLEASE watch the visualizer, it's taken from his docuseries, and J-Hope is street dancing in the video.* You can just relax and enjoy the visualizer, because there are no subtitles. It also will show a bit of history and may help you to get a better picture of who J-Hope is. It's not "may have written it before going into the army", it's definite, they are not permitted to do any other work while in the army, would probably be courtmarshalled. He will have made this over a year ago. When he was a young teenager Jhope was in a streetdance group called Neuron, also entered and won a lot of dance competitions, I think dance comes before rapping for him.

To me this means, NEURON . . his past and former dance crew Neuron (and also neurons themselves), and NEWRUN . . what's to come in the future.. new opportunities, new adventures. Many believe the boy represents J Hope as a young boy (he was a young boy when he started dancing) and he and the older man are one and the same. I love the entirety of this album plus the six part docu-series on Prime Video where he dances to all the songs on the album. Don't know if you've every reacted to Hope World, which is a previous mixtape that was very good and of course Jack in the Box album that was out in 2022 and which he performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2022. He is a very talented man and always surprises us. Also, please stream HOTS Vol. 1 . . . it deserves many more streams.

Neuron is the actual name of the 1st dance crew Hobi was in & is still connected to. New Run is like a play on the name but personally speaking I see it as his renewed focus street dance which are his roots.

Ding. Ding. Ding. You are correct. He completed this whole solo project and documentary before he entered the military. In fact, he started creating it right after finishing "Jack in the Box". I just wrote you a very long comment with all the details. Wah! It disappeared. To watch him dance watch "On the Street", his accompanying documentary. It's on Prime Video. It's excellent. He visits famous cities and meets and dances with their famous street dancers.

He hasn't been able to do full-on hip hop dancing for a long time and he talks about if he's even good at it anymore (yes, he is 😊). He was 29 years old when he made the docu-series, so I understand the doubt when the age of 30 is looming over you. But you can see how much joy dancing gives to him. It's a lovely documentary. 💜💜

Jhope do make songs that sound like the 90s hiphop. Its kinda his signature inside bts. Sort of like how V songs sounds like blues and jazz. All the members have a distinct flair. Jhope made the hope on the street album as an ost to his street dancing documentary called Hope on the Street. Its on Prime video and has 6 episodes. Each song represents a different genre of street dancing and Neuron is dedicated to the last episode of the series which features his old street dance crew.

Yes, this song is all about life-giving connections: young to old, past to present to future, across the street to across the globe, looking back and looking forward. Respect for his roots and hope for the future is a recurring theme in Hobi's work. Please listen to the whole Hope On The Street album. What's taking you back is thIs is "little hobi" - learning to dance from about 2004, so I'm sure some of his boy hood stuff was 90s. If you want to see the most amazing thing I've ever see him dance,, go to Intro: Boy Meets Evil - about 2017. He's done a lot since (!) but my mouth was hanging open. Another from this new album is I wonder with Jungkook. I was really confused about the album, dancing, videos, etc, until someone told me that a lot on KZbin was being clipped together by some fans and to watch the documentary. lol. It's worth it on your own time - 6 1/2-hr episodes.

Neuron's hold memories. The photographs were memories we make together of a lifetime. The quote at the end was about making memories together. So neuron has multiple meanings in this song. Others have mentioned the other meanings. j-hope is my bias and I adore this whole album. I love all his albums: Hope World, Jack in the Box and Hope on the Street. LOVE!!! Loving this mini OST album. This is one the OSTs on his documentary, HOPE ON THE STREET, on Amazon Prime (episode 5 just dropped today). The documentary is about him going back to his roots, as a hip hop street dancer, pre BTS. This album and the documentary were created before his enlisted, last April 2023. Yes.. a neuron is what connects our or bodies nervous system… the MV seems to be about connections, just like you said and the red string running through everyone’s lives, just like a neuron. The little boy is about the same age as J Hope was when he started Street Dancing and could represent J Hope. The boy is well know in his city for Street Dancing under the watchful eye of his father. Such a supportive father. I was thinking about the red as neurons are often depicted as Red in text books.

The song is all about connection. Like neurons connect the brain, they're the highway of the brain. It's about connecting present and past self, about connecting k-pop and k-hiphop (he's working with k-hiphop artists for this one and originally k-hiphop and k-pop didn't like each other much), about connecting people through dance, connecting young and old, connecting people from all walks of life. The connection is shown in the roads of a city, how people on all kinds of vehicles work together to get from one place to another. The more connection, the more colour. The young boy stands for j-hopes beginnings, his passion. The old man stands for his future and reflection on life. In the end, the young boy made the photography collage, connecting all the special moments in j-hope's life and the old man (his future self) is looking back on the connections that were made in his life. It's a great song, very well thought of with a lot of meaning and word play and an amazing motion picture.

I love this J-Hope album because it's more upbeat than his last solo album (Jack In The Box) which was more dark. Narrowing down my fave J-Hope songs is difficult, but I'd say my top 3 are Outro Ego, Future and Lock/Unlock :)

This is a song accompanying his docuseries hope on the street getting back to his roots of street dance. This is an OST album. Neurons send the messages that keep you breathing, moving, running etc. The title ("motion" picture fits the theme). New Run is just a play on words. I think the color or red splashes are the connections or maybe the synapses that connect Neurons. Those little moments of connection between people that if you think about it, could be little moments of love between us all. Of course during the verses, each rapper talks about what keeps them going, family, music, art, and dance. I think there are splashes of j-hopes life, with the guy in the military, seven birds in the sky, the little boy who might be j-hope as a younger street dancer. Those are my take aways!! All BTS members "stuff" what has come after they has gone in military are made before coz in SK you cant do eny other work than military work when you are in... but you can put in air the allready done work (I hope you understand 😅, sorry my english)😂

Yes of course he wrote and produced it before his military duty as he's still doing it and they are not allowed to work while in the military however if something was done before that person entered their military service be it a piece of art like a painting or album being produced their agents can release the album while they are service or a gallery can display and sell a artist's painting. As it's been created before they entered the military. J Hope is not in the MV but it's the soundtrack to his documentary where he visits different places to meet with street dancers.

Anything new that is released while they are serving HAD to be recorded/shot before they joined. They are actually not allowed to create new content while they are serving and release it for monetary gain (anything they'd write while serving can't be released until they are out of the military). The guys busted their asses to pre-record songs, do photo shoots, feature in other artist's songs/mvs, and be in advertisements before they started their military service so it could be released for us while they were gone. :)

Lol it's interesting that this happens to BTS a lot - just like Amygdala and Dionysus, what us foreigners thought were common knowledge to English speakers people see those words get used by Koreans and suddenly they don't understand. Neurons are the nerve cells in our brains and maybe bodies that send signals to create our nervous system. It's what Neuroscience is about. Neuron is the name of his old dance crew as well - he uses it in this song to talk about how everyone in the world are like neurons, connected, communicating even if we don't speak to each other we can influence each other. Neuron also sounds like New and Run put together. So lets see all humans as neurons and work together, and start a new run.

Great reaction. I think you should react to Spring Day MV and the explanation video (the one from the Italian BTS Army fan made). She did amazing research and even visited Korea to talk with family members affected by the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. The MV has many messages and references that are explained in the video but is enjoyable without explanation.
