First time Fitting the fusebox mini RCBO consumer unit- Nuneaton Electrician

In todays video I am going to be fitting the new fusebox consumer unit. Its a first from me using this manufacturer so I am brutally honest about what I think of it and if it is going to sway me away from my usual fuse board. I also explain the process to installing this mini RCBO board. Lets see what all the fuss is about

They are spot on, hopefully there last the distance on reliability. Short RCBOs are double pole, good on price and the lid goes straight on what more could you want.

Fusebox also do the busbar mounted blanks they're worth a buy as if you take the cover off the board with the metal ones in (and the power on) and one of them happens to drop on something live you can have an almighty bang

Fusebox do solid blank modules

My rep at electric Centre told me that they won't stock these as Fusebox don't provide a certification for tripping rates/ times, not sure how true this is. I've installed these myself and although a nice board to install I have actually had an RCD and several RCBO's fail on 30 & 150mA testing. On their earlier models CP fusebox did not provide OCPD for the SPD, solely relied on the main cut out. Must admit that I prefer Hager boards, but if on a budget I now fall back on Contactum or Lewden. Be interested to see how your RCBO'S test out.

I’ve fitted about 7 of these RCBO Boards now with SPD and Type A RCBOS and all have been fine. I know what you mean about the SPD Jot being protected by an MCB but the Hager boards are the same. I usually fit Hager but for an RCBO with SPD Fusebox wins, as I say I’ve not personally had an issues with the trip times but that’s not to say they don’t happen of course as you yourself have had issues I’ve just a different experience. The legends they give you are wank but I use a brother printer anyway. Contactum and Lewden are decent boards probably don’t get enough credit to be fair. Contactum is the easiest cover to put on by far! Can do it one handed but they are heavy!

@@JayTheSparky I believe the Hager SPDs have in-built over protection. Fusebox now provide OCPD for their SPDs. Your right about Contactum covers fitting well but Hager are also well constructed and the covers always fit with no struggle which is probably one of the reasons why they are the go to board for most electricians if cost is not an issue.

@@davidb3537 Ah I see, sorry I didn’t realise they had it built in that makes sense. Yes Contactum are good boards as are Hager as you say it’s well made and so easy to use probably why it’s the go to board as you say you know what you are getting with them

You can get the din rail mounted blanks for the FuseBox boards now. Not sure if they've been available for ages but only seen them recently.

You can prevent your lights strobing on video if you set your camera to record 25 fps or 50 fps as it aligns it with the lights 50 hz supply, hope this helps bud keep em coming

@@smallnstickypaper it will make the big voltage drops higher? II we called grouping multiple cables together- ie touching
