About the "melodic hardcore" tag, that's basically the next step from what NOFX was doing in the 90s. Most people would call both NOFX-esque bands and A Wilhelm Scream-esque bands just "skate punk". Punk folks are not that organized with their subgenre tags as metal folks do, but that's kinda part of the fun.

I saw these guys with the Bouncing Souls last year, and they were amazing! Brian has so much fun when he plays. I'll toss another vote for Hot Water Music, too! Jason Black on bass and George Rebelo on drums makes for a fantastic punk rhythm section. You need to check out Fugazi sometime as well.

Never heard of them but they are pretty rad! I recommend listening to and adding the Descendants to your list as well. Karl Alvarez and Tony Lombardo were the bassists in the band with Karl being the current one but great melodic and fast riff bass lines in their songs.

Melodic Hardcore, or skate punk, has the energy of punk but adds more technic in that. It is part of the same punk scene. I would suggest some other melodic HC such as Velvet Alley by Strung Out or Hero of our time by Satanic Surfers

@@jwise15 Yeah, one of the weirder shuffles for sure... Matt Riddle leaves F2F, ends up playing with Chris in NUFAN, Chris's brother Scott eventually ends up taking over for Matt in F2F. Odd that for all Dave Grohl's punk connections, he pointedly never mentiones NUFAN... probably doesnt want to admit he's the very distant, second best songwriter that Chris has played for.
