"Gimme gimme gimme" was born in 1979. 'Hung up' in 2005. (26 years later) ABBA's music is timeless 🤩. Hey... Great react, Ace👌 Try 'Honey honey' See ya ❤🇨🇱👍

Yes, it is Hung Up by Madonna, true. Madonna wanted to use that intro ,she begged ABBA to be able to use it in her song. ABBA didn't give it to anyone but Madonna paid ABBA big bucks to be able to use it in her song , no wonder it was that good !

You can't go wrong with ABBA, so many hits, including Disco anthems like "Lay all your love on me" "Voulez Vous" "Summer Night City" "Angel Eyes" "Dancing Queen" "If it wasn't for the nights" and then a long list of pop hits and ballads all with that ABBA flavour. If you want another great artist you may not be familiar with try "Blondie" and songs like "Heart of Glass" "Atomic" "Call me" "Hanging on the telephone" etc.

Nice to see you again reaction to ABBA songs "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" (1979) is a song influenced by American disco, after the success of the Bee Gees and the movie 'Saturday night fever" from the year before In this song you can see part of the volume and range of voice that the blonde Agnetha has ABBA was preparing their 1979 Tour of America and Europe, in the previous one , They recorded this song and filmed the official video These is an official video in which all ABBA is seen in the recording studio, including staff musicians (bass, guitarist and drummer) and sound engineer Michel Tretow at the controls, creator of the well-known 'ABBA sound' with his innovative 'wall of sound' multiplication technique (an adaptation of the works of Phill Spector) These is a short versión in last months ABBA did these new official lyric video of "Gimme gimme gimme" full versión with an instrumental bridge The introduction and the instrumental ending, that characteristic sound of Benny's keyboards, is what Madonna used for her worlwide hit "Hung Up" in 2005, 26 years later... (with the permission of the composers Björn and Benny, granting them share the credits) Surely for the latter, with almost 400 million views, the original video with the shorts versión is the second official ABBA video with the most views on KZbin (behind "Dancing Queen", which has more than 740 million views) and 600 millon views on Spotify too and also for this last reason, surely "Gimme gimme gimme (a man after midnight)" is much more popular now than in its time when it was released it was #3 in the UK, it wasn't even released in the US now also a centerpiece at the new ABBA Voyage concerts in London Another interesting date is that these is one of songs tgat ABBA recorded in spanish: "Dame Dame Dame" (1980) and ABBA performed it in an interview to Spanish TV Thank you again for these video I hope to see you with more ABBA songs One sugestión could be "Mamma Mia" (1975/1976) another iconic song My best regards from Buenos Aires , Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

Yep madonna had to grovel a bit for the permission to use the sample, btw the keyboard part you like is the Arp Odyssey. Benny has used it on several abba songs

Indeed Abba's song was released in 1979, Madonna 25 years later, 2004. She has already said that she is fa' de abba.

When we i see people react to this song, I always recommend you listen to Madonna’s “Hung Up” song. Obviously, ABBA was way before Madonna. She got permission from Benny & Bjorn from ABBA, and they loved her version use of their song.

ABBA was the original... and yeah, I think a lot of people knows this hehe... Madonna's Hung up was produced in 2005 I think, and ABBA´s Gimme Gimme Gimme, was recorded in 1977 I belive... So yeah, Madonna sampled this one :) I love Madonna also... but you need to react to more ABBA songs!!!!

Björn and Benny wrote the music and Tim Rice wrote the lyric to that musical (Chess). Björn and Benny later wrote another musical - in Swedish this time. The name of that musical is Kristina från Duvemåla and you can find several of the songs from it on KZbin. Among others Guldet blev till sand sung by Peter Jöback (who have played the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera borh on Broadway and in Westend) and Du måste finnas, sung by Helena Sjöholm. Also check out Anthem with Tommy Körberg from Chess. If you like musicals that is. I just love the fact that Björn and Benny have continued to work together over the years - although it has mostly been with music that has only (or mostly) reached us Swedes, simply because it has been in Swedish.
