Adam is also a trained trumpet player. His major in college was trumpet performance! It has contributed to his phenomenal capacity of breath control! To perform at his level nightly with very few breaks during their heavy touring schedule is absolutely mind blowing! He is an avid health and exercise enthusiast which I know must help in his strength and stamina conditioning. He uses a treadmill regularly as well as jogging so he is in top shape with his cardio health! A very dedicated class act, as all of our favorite guys are! So much talent! They are my absolute favorite group of all time, I love them so much and not for just being so talented but also because each one of them are very authentic, caring, kindhearted and all around great people! Awesome gentlemen!❤️🍟😃

Adam is a trained musician in multiple instruments including drums. He does his beatboxing as a drummer would. His true measure of greatness is that he always uses exactly the right mix of sounds for every song.

@@cindybonacci3175 I thought that was the case for the drums. His degree is in trumpet performance, and I would expect he learned all the other brass as well (they play quite similarly, although the mouthpieces require different amounts of the lips; even trombone is not that different since the slide positions convert to fingerings for the other brass).

Craziest part about this is it was 2015 the newest ones he's even better believe it or not. The whole group is in a class of their own. Adam Rupp is our freak of nature.

The thing with Adam, is his vocal percussion is used in a very realistic style in the songs that any drummer would be able to duplicate with actual drums....that is why he is more of a vocal percussionist than a beat boxer....even though he can do the sounds as well.

And this was over six years ago. He keeps improving constantly. You saw his ‘harmonica’ in Constant Sorrow. Take a look at a recent video Workin For a Livin to see an improved harmonica solo.

Love Adam Rupp & his insane talent. He is the best out there in my opinion. He simulates the sounds of a drum perfectly. Many drummers have commented on how good he is. He sounds so realistic. His breath control must be crazy. I heard he makes the sounds both while inhaling & exhaling. This was a few years ago & hard to believe but he is even better now. Adam is the glue that holds Home Free together. He is their secret weapon which other a cappella groups can't match.

If you listen closely you will notice that some of the sounds have a different tone - those are sounds he makes while sucking in air. It’s one of the tricks to beatboxing like he does. Make sounds while both inhaling and exhaling. Takes a lot of practice but can be done.

Hello there! He makes the sounds as he intakes his breath too - another great skill! Home Free are just perfection personified! I became a Home Fry by accident during the first UK lockdown (in Teesside, NE of England), listening to a reactor, reacting to their cover version of Man of Constant Sorrow, and ended up neck deep in the Home Free rabbit hole! Not regretting it, at all!!! Looks like I've found another reactor to follow - and from somewhere in the UK!!! Whereabouts are you from, if you don't mind my asking? As soon as I've posted this comment, I'll be hitting the subscribe button!

I have never in my life heard someone play drums without a kit as well as Adam Rupp! WOW! for drum solos with drums, please check out Godsmack's drum battle. Shannon Larkin, the regular drummer, and Sully Erna, singer, do this absolutely EPICdrum battle. both have full kits, but Sully also has full hand drums. I saw them perform this live, and it blew me away!

Just knowing it is time for Adam to go to the front and start the beatboxing makes you smile if you aren't in the first couple of rows of seats. :) Very entertaining. Self taught. Has gotten better as the years go by. In the song...Working for a Living...really funny and Adam comes up another bit of beatboxing that is amazing. Don't have to look up now, just whenever you have a bit of time after what has been requested earlier. Thanks for a great reaction.

Adam is one of the hardest working musicians there are. He learned a song in Korean just for a silly on stage skit. Attention to detail. He has worked for 20 years on his beat boxing, practicing until he got every sound right and he's adding new sounds still. Just recently he came up with castanets. He isn't a trained vocalist like the other 4 but he's been working on voice lessons (I think on an app on his phone) to learn to sing. He does sing a little on some songs, but he didn't feel his voice was good enough, so again, trying to improve and up his game. He does arrangements for some of their songs. So does Tim, I believe. He's also very smart. I saw a video of him playing Cribbage with Tim and some others while playing a game on his phone. When they asked if he was double gaming, he said, "yeah, lots of times I triple game." He learned how to play the drums so his movements would be accurate when he does his drum solo. He plays trumpet and bass guitar. When his church needed someone to fill in for members of their band he would fill in and could basically play all the instruments. So yeah, he is super talented.

I have a couple HF recommendations. These numbers are definitely not on the serious side. The first one is from a live performance and is called Guilty Pleasures. There's another slightly different one called Guilty Pleasures Hilariously Derailed. The guys kind of botched the usual lines and ran with it. Then their's cover of Meghan Trainor's All About that base. Well, they didn't really cover it, they copied the video in their own unique style and it is wonderful. There's also a separate blooper/gag reel for that one. And here's two that have their audience laughing uproariously and cheering them on. Colder Memory Lapse - What Were They Thinking and Austin Sits By Speaker. Stuff like this is what make people fall in love with them as people.
