Talk about rabbit holes...Joni's is one of the deepest out there. Nobody wrote so many quality songs that never failed to touch you as she did. She's the pound for pound singer-songwriting CHAMPION!

Joni is the GOAT, and the album "Blue" has so many accolades. Blue was rated the third greatest album of all time in Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". Joni's catalog is amazing. From this album, my favorite songs are: "A Case of You" and "Carey" & "California".

Joni is one of the Female artist on my list for you to get to. Glad you discovered this GODDESS in music history. She wrote the song "Woodstock" sung by Crosby-Stills-Nash at the festival. Everything about Joni Mitchell is "Unique"

You’re so right. Joni is a multi talented person. Phenomenal voice, incredible writing skills, great guitarist, and pianist and dulcimer player. And then to top it all off she’s an incredible artist. Listen to the true versions of both both sides now, blue and anything else her voice blows my mind

Thank you !!! By the way, Joni's playing dulcimer (a stringed instrument played across the lap) in her own tunings. She is accompanied by James Talor on guitar. More Joni Mitchell, please -

"Blue" is my favorite Joni album, I played it over and over and over to get through Christmas of 1971 while stuck in a US Navy's single man's barracks. :-) "Court and Spark" is not far behind. Warning: her songs will stick in your head! It was fun to see your surprised and positive reaction to her unique and wonderful style, thanks for sharing. :-)

Joni, she tells on her lovers, but she tells on herself and I love that connection. She's a storyteller, a siren, a reflection in a still pond, deep. Be careful with Joni, because I got a bro-crush on you for another reaction, now you done gone pushin' it! LOL!

Cool... interesting pick for your first Joni Mitchell reaction. On this album, Joni, poet, guitarist and pianist, introduced her fans to a new musical instrument, the Appalachian dulcimer. That's what you're hearing now, almost sounds like a sitar.
@Blue-qr7qe5 ай бұрын
She said in an interview that she started playing with the dulcimer because she could easily take it with her on the planes - I guess it became more of a featured player once she started applying her own tunings to it. She has like 160ish tunings of her own for guitar. She simply is so musically inventive. I really love her piano playing as well.

I suggest "Hejira" tittle track from the album of the same name. We're only particles of change,orbiting around the sun. But how can I have that point of view, when I'm always bound and tied to someone.

Thank you for reviewing this song! One of my all time faves. I used to listen to the Blue album multiple times a day. She has tremendous guitar skills. She writes all her songs. I’m going to see her in concert this Fall. She was very ill for a long time, and is coming back with the help of some good friends on stage. Greatest songwriter ever! Please do more off this album!!

Stephen Stills wrote it as a tribute/love song to Judy Collins (after the break-up of a two year relationship), NOT to Joni Mitchell.

Sadly, it seems that so much "pop" music today is vapid, all-sounds-sort-of-the-same, corporately-produced drivel. There is an absolute absence of artistry and/or creativity in much of today's "music". Ms Mitchell's art has been poetry, and more, from the beginning. Her album "Blue" is up near the pinnacle of her creativity and artistry and is in recent years finally being recognized for the astonishing accomplishment it represents. Congratulations for discovering it and I'm jealous of your future "first listen" to many more of her creative, intelligent, well-written songs. She's a gem and a "national treasure". I'm so proud to claim her as a fellow Canadian! : )

The last stanza of the last song on BLUE begins: "I'm gonna blow this damned candle out, I don't want nobody coming over to my table, I got nothing to talk to anybody about... All good dreamers pass this way,... someday, hiidin' behind bottles in dark cafés..." I don't think C&S is better - Just the next step.
