Aurora loses herself in her music. You often see her have to physically bring herself back from wherever she went. Seen her live. She talked/joked with the audience between songs. Fascinating entertainer. Hope you react to more of her.

Yes! I saw her live too (28 yrs after I stopped going to concerts bc I figured out ppl don't sound good live ). However, Aurora IS just as good live, even dancing around the stage. My daughter's and I met her after the show bc even though security told us she was gone (the bus was there and we saw Magnus and Frederick go in and out of the bus and I was following the uS tour so I knew she met fans after if we waited long enough and she was taking group photos each stop). She is just as sweet, genuine, caring and lovely in person!!

Her performance of “It Happened Quiet” live at the Current. It’s one of her best ever in my opinion. I do not know her meaning behind the lyrics of the song but most people interpret them to represent a very traumatic experience. During the performance, she appears to drift into an unpleasant memory. As some people who’ve experienced trauma do. It Happened Quiet is from her second album which I loved but I still think her first album is a masterpiece and also one of her darkest. Please consider checking out this specific performance if you haven’t already.

she made this song after reading an article about a man who killed his partner because she had acquired a terminal illness. The most incredible thing is that she wasn't acting! According to an interview, Aurora saw an article about a man who had euthanized his ill wife and his motives and situation deeply affected her. She says that this song, at its core, is a love song. Much like her song "It Happened Quiet" (a song hinting at domestic abuse, her live version at the Current is lovely), Aurora isn't afraid to show all aspects of love: the joyful, the spiritual, the painful, the violent and the ugly- she lays bare all the many ways it can manifest. Also mind you, Aurora is only 19 in this video. People often liken her to a fairy: otherwordly, captivating, but able to convey a breadth of emotion that goes well beyond her physical years. Her concert in the Nidarosdomen cathedral is a fitting setting for her angelic voice, and is a wonderful celebration of finding spirituality in human emotion. I love watching your videos for both your technical commentary and how invested you become as you watch! Its a joy to see your reactions, I look forward to learning more!

I'd definitely recommend her newest single "Your Blood" if you really want to hear Aurora play with her voice. Her singing style has changed a lot as she has gotten older, and she has been experimenting with stronger vocals and using her chest voice. Aurora doesn't usually belt out notes, but she's perfectly capable, and she shows it off in her newest song. I'd also recommend "Under Stars" live at Nidarosdomen if you want to hear some of her beautiful slides, and note bending. It's one of my favorites.

@Josian-ps7fb As do I. But I'm not afraid to offer a personal opinion and critique her evolution as an artist. I've led 100's to her. 100's. She just beginning to sound homogenized with her recent releases. There are threaded debates if she's using autotune now. I love her to death as an artist. And as I said. It's her art, her choice.
@Josian-ps7fb11 ай бұрын
@@Striderspawn I agree with you. But fundamentally, I'm metal (with other variations), so I don't necessarily love each and every choices she made in her albums. But her live performances are just crazy good to me. To be honest, I almost only listen to her live performances (and her various reinterpratations, like her acoustic ones for exemple). For me, her albums are the step before these live performances, it's like some kind of maturation which would be essential, a part of the whole process (her art and her choices, then, indeed). And like you I can't say her last studio releases are those that I like the most. But by saying that, we express our own tastes before all. No harm, then.🙂
@Striderspawn11 ай бұрын
@Josian-ps7fb Agreed. Ironically Aurora loves metal. I'm hoping she has Pink Floyd tendencies and shifts styles through her musical journey. The "industry" has a tendency to push artists to a central sweet-spot, at least by their standards. That's why it's important to honestly react and share our thoughts on her musical shifts. We're the counterbalance to the industrial tendencies of the music business. And yes, live is where she flourishes.

So glad you chose this one to do next. It was the performance that hooked me on Aurora, and I still consider it one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. I really enjoyed your analysis, and I like your comparison to method acting, where she just completely loses herself in the character. At this point in her career, she had a bit of stage fright, and admitted more than once that she was very nervous at this performance. I think her losing herself in the character also helped her deal with her anxiety. You can see her almost coming back to reality at the end of the performance (also after Runaway), as if she forgot where she was. I think it would be awesome to see you react to another side of Aurora, one full of fun and energy, with a bit more confidence (though still not to where she is today). "All is Soft Inside" at KEXP Iceland 2018 is a fan favorite, and it really shows off a completely different side of Aurora.

First Aurora sing from the one bring murdered. Then her death is for mercy and the one killing her is to help her “from the thing that come”. There is empathy possibly love for the man killing her. All from her point of view. But there is a moment of fear, fear of death possibly of the violence. Because it is from the murder victim’s point of view we know this action is wrong but somehow we empathize with the sorrow of the murderer. How does she do this? I can only watch and listen as these. emotions are communicated. Truly amazing not just for poignant beauty this song but her performance. I think you are correct the male voice needed to be in this arrangement. And this was shy 19 years old Aurora. Between this and Runaway I knew I had to follow music career and listen to her music.
