She has so many stunning performances. She did a concert in a Cathedral with instruments like a harp and a choir for backup. She though, owned the stage. A fave of mine is “It Happened Quiet”, live at the Current. Another song with lyrics that mean different things to listeners. My interpretation is on the dark side. Oh and Bowie’s “Life on Mars” is a muSt.

AURORA always does something with me that in German is called "Kopfkino". You can roughly translate it as "head cinema". There are images and emotions that seem to come out of nowhere. Not many musicians do that with me. Greetings from the Black Forest.

Ah….now you’re listening to one of the great discoveries I made during the pandemic, when I took a deep dive into music I did not know on KZbin. This young woman is a flaming talent….songwriter, vocalist, dancer, activist…..she is 26 now I believe and some of her latest music is damn fine……..I’m currently in love with A Soul With No King….very dark….a more mature and deeper voice….more power. She continues to evolve, and hopefully she will be a force in music for decades……long after I’m gone.

Welcome to the world of AURORA, Sal! I am happy you enjoyed your first introduction to her. I hope you continue to go down the AURORA rabbit hole and explore more of her songs. AURORA is unlike any commercial and even avant-garde artist out there. She is like a pixie, her amazing vocals will chill you to the bone and her performances are often organic, raw, heartfelt and mesmerising. Her perfect harmonious synergy with the guitarist in this live rendition is simply perfect, his vocals and guitar work definitely puts this already impressive song onto another level. If you are interested to hear what some of AURORA's recent works sound like, you should then check out Cure For Me, Heathens, Everything Matters, The Conflict of the Mind. As for live performances, there is not one bad live performance you can find on the internet. To continue your AURORA journey in the live realm, you should really check out the heavenly and amazing It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current). Oh I cannot wait for your next AURORA music reaction!

Yea, Aurora is amazing artist with a lot of great songs. Very emotional, creative and beautiful music. A lot of variation in her music too. Her lyrics are not trivial and has also often poetic quality + usually open for interpretation. It is very impressive as she write all her songs and English (as you noticed) is not her first language. She started to make music from 6 and English lyrics from 9 (but I think up do 14 even her parents did not know about it). She become Artist by "accident" - of course she has always artistic soul but she did not want to be artist. She recorded one song for parents (bought short time in studio) and someone posted it on internet without her knowledge (+other song from performance on the school ending) and then manager contacted with her asking if she would like to be an artist and sign contract. Initially she said no, but mother convinced her that she should share music and music should not be kept for herself.

Been a waiting to watch you watch this. She's like a old Tiger putt, she just don't miss .no but semi seriously, if you ask her how did this happen? She will sing to you.. ." It happened quiet ". That's why she wants to see this world " through the eyes of a child". She's from Norway....not a " Queendom" Norway is her " Home". I like her new single " Starvation" but I wish she released " the blade" instead. Truly a unique Artist.. .you can not put her catalog in any box. She leans towards pop music, but she has so many non traditional pop songs and I can only describe the rest as.. AURORA music.

I know a lot of fans claim that this is about a euthanasia/mercy killing, BUT when you watch her performance AND parse out some of the lyrics, I believe it's not about that at all. When you watch her acting out the lyrics, the main emotions I get are FEAR AND HORROR, the way her eyes project this and the shuddering way she moves her hands over her arms, imo if it were strictly a mercy killing, where he's saving her from the suffering of some terrible disease or such, there should be more simple sorrow and maybe acceptance, but that's not what it looks like to me (yes, it's MY interpretation lol ;?) And this one lyric sticks out for me where she says, "I know HE KNOWS that he's killing me for mercy", which could be interpreted to mean HE THINKS he's killing her for mercy - if she knew it as well, wouldn't she just say "I know he's killing me for mercy", but she chose to put it in those terms, and YES it could just be those words just fit rhythmically or poetically, but then she's very careful with the way she crafts her lyrics which makes me think this is the case. Violence against women is a global plague, and the statistics show that the vast majority of women are killed by someone they know or even love, and we've all seen the thousands of news stories about men, whether jilted lovers, mentally unbalanced co-workers/stalkers and exes killing women and using unhinged rationalizations. I've read several accounts of husbands/fathers who have lost their jobs or ruined financially and decide to kill not only themselves but also their wives and children, believing that he's saving them from the suffering of poverty, social stigma and other deranged excuses. So that's the vibe I get from this song, that it's possibly about an ex-lover or deranged stalker who is the killer, a more grim and certainly less romantic meaning than a lot of her other fans would like the story to be ;?)

Everybody's going to have a take on this, but this was very early Aurora, and she was experimenting with a little shock value here I think. She has a song which doesn't get much play, but which was on her first EP, called "In Boxes," in which the person singing is a murderer and cuts up her victims and puts the parts in boxes under her bed. It's all tongue-in-cheek, and a lot of fun. Both songs were, I think, just early experimentation with the boundaries of music. For fun, here is a link to In Boxes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZi7nGRjr7yJnZI

Love this performance and song, but it's a shocker as an introduction. She has so many sides to her different from this. Her early material could be a bit dark... She had no plan of becoming an artist, but started writing to deal with troubling thoughts. Introvert, very emotional and quite the empath. Also very funny and smart. Her stage banter is a mix between profound/emotional and delightful bullshit. Interviews as well sometimes. "Runaway" from the same concert is a good choice, and Aurora has also recommended that as an introduction to her music. She's evolved a lot in my opinion, but it's her most popular song after all.

Very nice reaction to this mind blowing performance😍 Aurora said in an interview: “Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said: 'OK, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad." In another interview, she said: "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head - and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them - maybe I'll make a book with them." “Runaway” means a lot to Aurora, and she almost always sing it in concerts. I highly recommend the live performance at the Nobel peace prize concert 2015, it’s a fan favourite❤️🦋

Great reaction, the song is about the story of a man and a woman, the woman was really sick and in pain so the man killed her out of mercy, to let the woman he loves rest and as it’s said to do no harm, and as Aurora is singing it, she’s telling the story from the woman’s perspective

What word describes this ? This is my first time hearing her- such an incredible voice. The song reminds me of the ‘right to die’ for those suffering from terminal illness or other injury causing the sufferer to feel they are burning in hell. The decision to legally end one’s life, would be incredibly difficult for the one deciding to end it, and the other, supporting their decision. To say this wouldn’t be a mind twisting, painful decision is an understatement. If I ever am faced with the sufferers situation, I will choose 5,4,3,2,1. #RIPJackKevorkian

This is a pretty heavy one for an introduction to Aurora, though I think it's an absolute masterful performance. She was 19 years old here (and just turned 28 in June). The album version was actually kind of upbeat and dancy, but the deluxe version included an acoustic version. The acoustic version is actually what they used for the music video, and it eventually became the default version for all of her performances. She has many different styles (much more than what you read), and this folky style is not really common for her. If you do Runaway, I highly recommend that version from this same concert. It's the favorite version of most fans, and is actually the better introduction to her (just from a stylistic perspective). There is a very popular music video, but I think the live version is much better.

Aurora is incredible, very talented. You should listen to her song Through The Eyes Of A Child. I believe this song, Murder 54321, is about a father who cannot bare the fact his beautiful young daughter is growing into a beautiful young woman about to face the challenges of life from young teen to adulthood.. and so has decided to spare her the horrors and take her life. Maybe like an honour/mercy killing.

Can't see it mentioned, maybe it is. I believe Aurora read about a " mercy killing", the "wife" was terminally Ill and in great pain, so her " Husband" felt, because of his love, he needed to end her pain. I'm not sure if I've got that 100%, but it's along those lines.
