This album went Platinum in 1976 off of this song which is strictly R&B. They are a band from UK. In the 70’s no cellphones no social media, therefore when record debut and went to #1 on the charts. Most Americans didn’t know they were white until they appeared on Soul Train. This song is still in rotation on most slow jam radio stations

Hey there Asia & BJ, I'm so glad you guys did this reaction!!! This is a "rabbit-hole" worth going down!!! The Average White Band (AWB) is a soul, funk & R&B Band originally started in 1972 from SCOTLAND & they continue to tour today (2022) with 2 original band members remaining in the group...They are NOT a one hit wonder either...They were the 1st "white" group to ever play "Live" on Soul Train because they're so soulful & funky!!! We just enjoyed the studio version of "A Love Of Your Own," but here are some more of their hits: "Pick Up The Pieces," "Cut The Cake," "Person To Person," "School Boy Crush," "Cloudy" Live 6:36," "Work To Do," "Queen Of My Soul," "I'm The One," "Walk On By," "Atlantic Avenue," "You Wanna Belong," "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" and there's more where that came from!!! These guys are not pretenders, they are the "Real Deal," funky to the bone!!!! Mic-Drop!!! 🎤 Sincerely, CR SoundDoctor

Have loved these boys since the 70's. If you didn't live through the era you just don't know. The thing I find amazing about AWB is that they originate from Scotland. Speaks volumes as to the influence of R&B music of the 60's and 70's when you consider there was no internet and some white cats in a land faraway were digging the sound of black artists in the United States.

My street husband that recently passed used to play this song over and over and over! I'd have my phone and I'd be like watcha wanna hear; he was level 61, one day before turning 62. He did a year in slop food serving Maricopa county then died 4 days later from heat exhaustion. :'( My point I'm making, I didn't know about the song until I met him, 6 years ago, and it's only now MORE beautiful now because of HIM! I FEEL him right here as I look over in our bed and he's gone. I recently and Men I don't get it I don't understand the song I know I've been looking and I don't think anybody understands the song! There's nothing any word that says or dispense hey this is what it mean when somebody was talking about because it makes no sense...to me. But perhaps that song is just so dope feelin type then JUST perhaps it just doesn't mean a meaning. Perhaps left that part out....like a bad grade, the whole main idea, somehow didn't evolve into the essey because the writer was havin too much fun and got carried away. The instructor pass it anyway because because it was written in calligraphy with a calligraphy pen. And the writer and professor click too so it turned out great. AWB maybe just felt the rough draft for the the song A LOVE YOUR OWN's rough draft would have been... because the song WAS IS enough to this very day. I think maybe he was playing that song for me over and over to give me this message that perhaps if I got a good job to break bread more with MFs that and i may be blessed more in all ways that just wealth but not at home at 47 without my Street hubby widowed. I BROKE Bread with wisdom, CPR and LOVE , and LOYALTY THAT'S IT! I'm STILL waiting for my 10 year long wait of disability! PPL are never appreciative and grateful for the real, true things. Ya know? ✌️

Baby it sounded so much like R&B with a hint of funk, urban radio stations played AWB on heavy rotation! If you play it around Black people watch and see if some to don't start grooving. But never get it twisted because music is definitely universal. I had a job with an old radio with the turn dial, we could it keep on low. So, on night shift we usually put it on "Delilah", easy listening music and this came on one night my two partners one Asian the other White got to grooving like I was.
