5:35 - Funny you noticed Saiki was barefoot (whereas MISA, the barefoot assassin, always is). She had lost one of her shoes during the previous song, when she had been held up by the crowd and Miku had had to finish the last verse of the song. Then they went inti 'Real Existence and, at 5.35, as Obi-Wan Kanami comes to the end of her solo, she turns to check that Saiki has used the time to get her shoe back and put them both on. Obi-Wan Kanami glances at Miku, asking silently if Saiki is ready and Miku gives her the nod to finish. Saiki then struts back on stage like the queen she is.

I thought it would save me explaining in too much detail exactly what happened - ie, that one of Saiki-san's shoes fell off, was picked up by a female audience member (Saiki was being held up in the female section of the crowd) and handed back to Saiki during 'Real Existence' being played and then she put it back on during Kanami's solo - but it didn't!

Exactly! "Gap Moe" , or sometimes just, "The Gap" is a relatively common idea in Japanese media, especially manga and anime. Band Maid are a perfect example of Gap Moe pulled off absolutely perfectly.

It also perfectly works as marketing/branding and uniqueness factor, but I can't help but look at it this way: a strict adherence to that concept means we'll never see them all dressed in black and leather (for example), or whatever else. Its a dress code and I wish they would break it occasionally, they could create dichotomy between other elements to mix it up a bit. But hey, that's just superficial nitpicking.

Saiki lost her shoes when she fell/was pulled into the women's section of the crowd at the end of previous song freedom kzbin.info/www/bejne/roOanp2NeJiNl7M. she was then on stage during this song shoeless which she points out to misa (who always plays barefoot as it helps her anticipate the drums feeling them through the stage) that is what caused the laughter between the two. she then gets to put on her own outdoor shoes during Kanami's solo during which you can see Kanami repeatedly looking behind her to see if she needs to give saiki more time to get back. her shoes were returned by the fans after the concert by the way (japan innit).

In the previous song, a kick ass performance of Freedom”, Saiki got carried away by the crowd, Miku had to finish the vocals, and she lost her heels. This is why Saiki was wearing black slippers. Saiki does get her black high heels back at the end. This is a great live version. During her awesome guitar solo, one can notice the smile on Kanami’s face, and that she is glowing with happiness. It’s the joy that they show when playing live that makes Band Maid sovery wonderful.

Another great and funny review mate. re Saiki no shoes. Song before this one ( clip deleted by mgmt. I guess) that I saw, Saiki got pulled into the crowd when she got too close and a shoe disappeared while they got her back on stage , and while she was off stage Miku kept the vocals going, like a pro as always. So maybe that why Misa came over mid song, bonding as barefoot sisters. Too cute.

Ok here's another mind blower for you: Ado... oh I don't know where to start. Since you are trying out some anime, how about [Ado] 逆光 (ウタ from ONE PIECE FILM RED) (The song is called Backlight and she sings as the character Uta from the movie.) It is one of her newest releases. Ado is very young (maybe 20 now?) and has been explosively successful mostly on KZbin in Japan as a singer working with incredible producers but is pretty unknown over here. Her vocal range, attack, edge and creativity are out of this world. Interestingly she doesn't appear to ever show her face, just her voice.

I see someone explained why Sai-chan was barefoot, so I won't repeat that. The only thing I can really add to this is that this song and "Onset" are the only songs from this show on B-M's official channel. It was originally included as a bonus DVD on a CD single for "Starting Over," but that's been out of print for years now. Now the show is up on BAND-MAID Prime. Also, the venue where this serving happened, Zepp Tokyo, is now closed. Tokyo still has Zepp Haneda and Zepp DiverCity, though.

Some people have explained this a bit, but just to add more detail, since their male fans can get a bit rowdy at times, they created a safe section for female fans at their Japanese shows. During the previous song, “Freedom,” Saiki went out into that section and was being held up by some crew. At some point she lost a shoe, and Miku had to sing the last verse of “Freedom” while Saiki made her way back to the stage. Saiki was able to get her shoes back on during Kanami’s solo in this video, as a fan had picked up the lost one and passed it back. At some point, you ought to Watch the whole Zepp Tokyo concert on Prime. Don’t use the footage here, but a lot of us would happily listen to you give a detailed review of it, especially if your wife joins you.

nice reaction again :) I think the most striking thing about Band Maid, and one of the reasons why their live clips are sooooo much better than the MVs, is how much sheer fun and joy they have when playing. It's infectious. Saw them in concert once in 2019 and I can't just recommend enough seeing them live if you can. On another note, Glim Spanky just released a new track (16 hours ago as of now) and I think you might enjoy it. Suggestion, I think you should listen to one of Band Maid's early songs that they wrote. The song is "Chemical Reaction", the official live video. This song is virtual throwback to the late 60's - early 70's rock era, with thundering bass, driving drum beat complete with cowbell (yes cowbell) and a Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze" rift at the end. CHECK IT OUT!

Band-Maid is the BEST, but I don't think you have reacted to my 2nd favorite band...Trident formerly Girls Rock Band Kakumei (GRBK). I loved them when they were GRBK, including when they were dabbing into being YTers. I would suggest Utopia and Voltage first, then some of their music as Trident.

I would recommend "Different" by them, I don't like all of their songs (a lot feel a bit repetitive after a while) but this one stand out really good for me
