Robin (the lead on this song) did many leads before the disco era, probably more than big brother Barry from the late 60's to the early 70's. This became Robin's signature song and he loved it so much that he requested that it be played at his funeral in 2012. Please react to more of his leads from the early days. I might suggest "Massachusetts", "I Can't See Nobody" and "And the Sun Will Shine", all of which can be reacted to using their wonderful 1974 Melbourne concert. Great reaction to "Joke"!

Barry the oldest, Robin & Mo the twins and Andy is the youngest brother. Barry, Robin & Mo are BeeGees and Andy had his own carrier and the brothers wrote a lot of music together. Both for themself and for other artists like Barbara Streisand, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers and Celine Dion just to mention a few. They also have a older sister Lesley, that lives in Australia. Barry, Robin & Mo started singing as very young kids, Barry was 9 and the twins was 6 when they first started to preform for a public.

About 3 days after Maurice died, Robin had to do and interview and solo song in the Netherlands. He seemed to be running on shock. It was heartbreaking to watch.

Barry, Robin and Maurice were the Bee Gees. Robin sings lead on this one. He sang lead on many of their older tunes, and after Living Eyes, but didn't sing a lot of lead from 1976-1980. His voice is pretty unmistakable. Andy was their little brother. He was about 12 years younger than Barry, and about 10 years younger than the twins (Robin and Maurice were fraternal twins). Andy was never an official member of the Bee Gees, he had a very successful recording career of his own in the mid-late 1970s (I Just Want to Be Your Everything, Shadow Dancing, An Everlasting Love, Words and Music, etc.). Andy was the first to die, five days after his 30th birthday of a virus of the heart that caused his heart to enlarge.

The Bee Gees had hit songs back in the 60's to the 70's BEFORE they skyrocketed to worldwide superstardom during the disco period with "Saturday Night Fever" fame. Many terrific TV performances from those earlier years to be found on KZbin, just saying! All three were equally talented, even though Barry was highlighted as lead, but Robin had a singularly unique voice quality that was showcased in several of their early songs.

When they started to make it Robin sang most lead, then as their style changed Barry took most of the lead. In fact at one point Robin left the group, but their love for each other mended the fences. Andy looked so much like Barry but had blonde hair. Can really see it when Barry was clean shaven. This is the group I grew up on. My cousin had a band and they sang the Bee Gee. It is so great to see you reacting to The Bee Gees. Robin has always been my favorite. His voice was so profound & you just experienced his vocal ability to capture your emotional soul and feel everything that he just sang! You watched him do one solo, here, & felt the impact of his death, as well as the sorrowful grief, experienced by everyone who has his voice sewn into the fabric of their hearts! Iconic and legendary are small words to describe these brothers, their music & their legacies! I hope that you will do a full dive into their library of music. You cannot find a 'bad' Bee Gees song! For Whom The Bell Tolls will make you check to see if your heart lies bleeding on the floor! Alone, Spics & Specs, Massachusetts, One, Nights on Broadway, Tragedy.....too many to name! This concert, One Night Only, is worth a full view & listen! They cover many of their hits that they recorded, as well as some that they wrote for other artists, (and they wrote many). Celine Dion comes onstage here to sing Immortality and they back her on it. They wrote it for her, I think? I hope to see you react to all of these and more. You have a real appreciation for music and song if you are drawn to these legends! What's in the heart defines the measure of a man and you measure up, no problem! Every time I watch you, I think to myself, "What a fabulous son he must be. I bet his mom just beams when she is with him'! And I think, "Those waves! Beautiful curl"! LOL. Does every mom in the neighborhood want to adopt you? I would! Thank you for the smiles!

Perhaps these lyrics are paradoxical. In esoteric spirituality our death is the doorway to the true life in Spirit. And life in the earthly realm is a kind of death to that life in Spirit. This involves reincarnating. We are spirit , through the mediator of our Soul, having physical experience. Robin had this song played at his funeral.
