That sounds like the perfect strategy. My only suggestion is to pull up the lyrics for any Rage Against the Machine songs you do. Yeah, all of em.
@HistorysRaven2 жыл бұрын
I'd keep to this strategy as a lot of music videos will get copyright hits. That said, for bands like Linkin Park, System of a Down, Disturbed, and Rage Against the Machine, go watch the music video after reacting if you don't already. Some songs, like Flobots "Handlebars" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn24iWOvaaqjqqM) and anything by Sabaton, where the music video enhances the experience two, three, or even five times.

The full line is "Born and raised by those who praise control of population - Well, everybody's been there and I don't mean on vacation." Basically means we can all relate to our previous generation holding some fucked up views, and us trying to grow beyond that and live better lives than them.

"everybody's been there and I don't mean on vacation", compare to "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave" from the Eagles' 'Hotel California' - this state really is another dimension man, I moved out here from Indiana and I'm still tripping on how different things are. The lyric about the sun having its final resting place here also alludes to the mystery of it - come up here to the Emerald Triangle and smoke enough Humboldt weed and it'll all click into place 😂

That's what I always thought this line meant, although not so much California as the idea of it that Hollywood sells, i.e. "Cali-fornication". In Hotel California, even tho they never really answered it, it felt more like a metaphor for addiction. "You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave" feels like "once an addict, always an addict".
@tetsujin19792 жыл бұрын
"Everybody's been there and I don't mean no vacation" refers to California's massive influence on media (tv, movies, etc) to the point where everybody feels like they've been to California, even if you've never visited the state.

This is the first reaction channel I have discovered in it’s freshman state (with the rock stuff I mean) and I love it. If you want some more to react to that is not overly hard and metal you should check out some ”white boy” blues bands from the 70’s. A lot in common with the old school soul and Rn’B. If you want more Red Hot Chili Peppers I suggest you check out older stuff that is funky rap rock. Give It Away is one of their biggest hits and it’s an amaaazing song!

@anofsti2 жыл бұрын
The best thing about playing in a band is that you play live instruments with your friends. It's that we can create the song together but never alone that's a part of the magic. Especially playing in front of a crowd where everyone needs to be on point. When it comes together and the crowd is dancing there isn't a better feeling in the world
@Electrolith182 жыл бұрын
It’s already been alluded to in these comments, but the line, “Well, everybody’s been here, and I don’t mean on vacation,” refers to the overall premise of the song. “Spies from China try to steal your mind’s elevation:” the epicenter of the world’s drama and paranoia. “And little girls from Sweden dream of silver-screen quotation:” the allure and romanticization of California and Hollywood. “The Sun may rise in the East, at least it’s settled in the right location:” A way of summarizing California as the far edge of the universe. It’s Californication.

The phrase 'being Californicated' has been around since the mid-70s or a bit earlier. RHCP did make Californicated/tion a more mainstream term, followed by the series. I remember wearing buttons on my denim jacket (in 1976) saying stuff like "Don't Californicate in public" - bought at Spenser's Gifts, so not a mom-n-pop outfit. All respect to RHCP for their excellent use of sarcasm and irony to deliver their messages to the masses (even if half or more don't understand what they're hearing).

Californication is a TV trope term more commonly known as "Hollywood Provincialism." It's the reason why a show based in one location will have things called by terms not commonly used in that area, but that are used in California. Rock and roll has diverse roots. Rock and roll evolved mainly from jump blues but also country, folk, doowop, gospel and classic, swing jazz. Naturally some artists would emphasize some of these kinds of music and de-emphasize others leading to a noticeable difference in the sound of their music. the genre encompasses a lot over the last 70 years of music! So to explain a bit about the song, he means that California's influence on culture is almost all encompassing, that it influences everything. It's a helluva song. Lemme.make a recommendation because he mentions Cobain in this song, Nirvana, specifically Smells Like Teen Spirit. It's the true beginning of grunge, was the death of the 80's glam era. You are very real with what you appreciate, not only about the music, but also stuff like "I like that none of it sounds the same so far" or "this just doesn't move me". I know I am late, but if you don't watch the music video (which is a good thing - yes to lyrics tho) you shouldn't put it on the reaction video. It distracts us thinking you have it playing AND there is a higher chance of it being demonetized when YT changes its copyright algo.

Tanxugueiras have released three albums; "TANXUGUEIRAS" (2018), "CONTRAPUNTO" (2019) and "DILUVIO" (2022) and have performed in Spain and abroad. In the first two albums, "TANXUGUEIRAS" and "CONTRAPUNTO" the songs are exclusively traditional like "O Querer" or "Albedrío" in which the power and coordination of their voices and their mastery of the tambourine can be clearly appreciated. In their latest album "DILUVIO" (deluge) released on 07/29/2022 they mix Galician folklore with other more modern styles. Of almost all the songs you can find official videos on KZbin where you can set the subtitles in Castilian (Spanish) and in other languages such as Terra, Figa, Midas, Averno, Pano Corado, Desidia, Seghadoras and Fame de odio. For other songs there is only the official audio, such as Arica and Sorora and the instrumentals Treboada and Acougo. As they point out in their official website, in the album "DILUVIO", the "cantareiras" (galician word that means women who sing) question alleged faults or capital sins installed in society. To the seven "original": envy (Figa), greed (Midas), anger (Averno), lust (Pano Corado), laziness (Desidia), gluttony (Fame de odio), pride (Arica) they add three more: homogeneity (Terra), hostility (Seghadoras) and patriarchy (Sorora). Beliefs that after the storm (Treboada) they have decided to turn into transforming lessons for life: a deluge of self-acceptance, diversity, free love, empowerment and recovery of traditions in modern times. In these and upcoming dates they are giving concerts throughout Spain solo or in festivals with other artists presenting their "Midas" tour. On their official website, which can be configured in Galician or Spanish languages, there is information about the band, their albums and concerts of the current tour. On KZbin there are many videos of the tour, some of them quite good like their concert in Cadiz, To see it type in KZbin: Concierto Tanxugueiras (Plaza de San Antonio - Jueves de Carnaval 2022) Great concert of Tanxugueiras at Riazor beach in A Coruña (city of Galicia in Spain) on 12/08/2022. Spectacular start with the song "Arica", wise combination of pure traditional songs like "O Querer " or "Albedrío" with the "capital sins" of his latest album "Diluvio" and the apotheosis end with "Terra". Large audience, about 80.000 people, ,of all ages including children. Several videos are already uploaded on KZbin. Type: Tanxugueiras Riazor 2022 I specially recommend two videos where you can see the whole concert: Type: Tanxugueiras actuando en la playa de Riazor (A Coruña) 12/08/202. This video has two parts. At the end of the first one wait a few seconds and the second one starts. Type: Concierto Tanxugueiras - Noroeste Estrella Galicia (A Coruña 2022) Two other short but interesting videos in which the Tanxugueiras appear from behind: Type: Tanxugueiras. Espectacular!!!! Coruña, 12 de Agosto de 2022 (Tanxugueiras singing "Cambia todo" with the whole audience moving their cell phones with the flashlights on to the beat of the song and illuminating the entire beach) Type: Tanxugueiras, espectacular fin de festa. Coruña, 12 de Agosto (Tanxugueiras singing the last bars of "Terra")

Tanxugueiras is a trio formed by Aida Tarrío, and the twins Olaia and Sabela Maneiro. They are from Galicia, northwestern Spain. They almost always sing in Galician, Galicia's own language, although they have sung in Spanish in some performances. They also play the tambourine in many of their performances. The name of the group comes from the toponymy: it is the name given to farms where badgers (teixugos in galician language) usually roam and that in the area of Fumaces, municipality of Riós (province of Ourense) is called tanxugo instead of from teixugo (which would be the correct form) and hence "tanxugueira". Until 2021 this group was known in the field of traditional Galician music but throughout 2021 thanks to the videos of the songs MIDAS and FIGA, in which they mix traditional and modern elements, they became famous outside that field. In the fall of 2021, RTVE, (RadioTelevisión Española) decides to organize a music festival, the Benidorm Fest, to choose the artist and the song that will represent Spain in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest The Eurovision-Spain portal carried out a consultation among its members and readers about possible candidates. The Tanxugueiras prevailed in the vote. This prompted them to appear at the Benidorm Fest with the song “Terra” that combines Galician folklore with electronic percussion. In December 2021, the video of the song was released and can be seen on KZbin:Tanxugueiras - TERRA (Official Lyric Video). In this video the lyrics of the song are in Galician with subtitles in Spanish and if they do not appear they can be activated in the settings. English subtitles can also be activated. In January 2022 the Tanxugueiras perform in the Benidorm Fest Final and come in third place. The performance can be seen on KZbin in the video: Tanxugueiras - "Terra" Benidorm Fest 2022 The Grand Final. The song and the staging are a tribute to an aspect of the tradition and culture of Galicia, the figure of the cantareiras, women who sing, and the pandereteiras, who play the tambourine, which enlivened the “foliada” or nocturnal meeting. of people to have fun, sing and dance. The phrase "there are no borders" is said in several languages spoken in Spain: Galician: Non hai fronteiras Basque (Euskera): Ez dago mugarik Catalan: No hi ha fronteres Asturian (Bable): Nun hai fronteres Castellano (often named Spanish: No hay fronteras Sign language, in the last scene of the performance. In the background images of the stage are scenes of women singing and playing the tambourine and of people dancing. The song has the structure of a muñeira, (muiñeira in Galician), a traditional Galician melody in which “ailalala” and “ailalelo” abound. Olaia's “aturuxo” almost at the end of the performance is a high-pitched, loud and prolonged cry that is emitted as a sign of joy at festivals and “foliadas” or while doing some agricultural work. The costumes of the Tanxugueiras are inspired by the traditional Galician gala dress, black with lace and jet decorations and with jet or gold jewels. The makeup simulates the drawings of the lace and the gold leaf on the hair is reminiscent of the gold of the jewels. Aida is the one wearing the braid, Olaia is the one who throws the “aturuxo” at the end of the performance and Sabela is the one wearing the golden ornament on the left side of her hair. I suggest you watch the official video in KZbin:Tanxugueiras - TERRA (Official Lyric Video), in what you can activate subtitles in English, to understand the lyrics, listen to it several times, even while doing something everyday, and then watch the Benidorm Fest final performance. KZbin: Tanxugueiras - "Terra" Benidorm Fest 2022 The Grand Final. I list you some videos of this group published on KZbin in which you will observe an evolution

Red Hot Chili Peppers was HUGE in the white and even Mexican communities in So-Cal, especially in Riverside, Moreno Valley, San Bernardino etc. around those areas and even more so in the surfer community.

Back in the late 70s, there were already signs at the Oregon border saying things like "Don't Californicate our state"; it might be even older than that, but that's the first I knew of it. (I'm a lifelong Californicator myself.) I think that the David Duchovny TV series (which was awesome, by the way) took its title from this song, which was already about 6-7 years old when the series began.

Californication was actually invented by a band called Mr Bungle, who Red Hot Chilli Peppers had a rival with. Mr Bungle was planning on naming their album Californication but it leaked and RHCP took it, leaving Mr Bungle to name their album California.

This song is about the positives and negatives of California culture. "Everybody's been there" means everyone's been influenced in some way by California culture with Hollywood for example.

I think this came out the same day as Ice Cube's debut solo album. Bought them both on tape. Man I'm so old.
