I grew up listening to this song by Simon & Garfunkel & have always loved it. I had a lot of their records. Many people have covered this song. Disturbed's version is a much darker take on this song. Peter Hollens & Tim Foust (from Home Free) do a great version of this song. Their voices complement each other perfectly & the layering of their voices is amazing. I hope you will check it out.

I have never been moved as much by any song. My husband doesn't care for it because he thinks it sounds angry.🤫 David has such a powerful beautiful voice and this rendition is so much better, and the message delivery so much clearer than anything I've heard. Heck, Paul Simon commented it was the best cover he'd heard.

In case no one else has said this, you MUST check out the live version on Conan O’Brian. So good. David Draiman was classically trained and training to be a cantor at one time. He is incredibly talented and works on his craft and his instrument like the extreme pro that he is. I’m so glad I got to see your reaction to the incredible gift that this version of the song truly is!!!

David Draiman..... a powerful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which goes straight through you to your very soul! Thank you for your comments, I loved your reaction to this cover, I am a child of the 60's when Simon & Garfunkel released the original in 1964 I was in high school, back then I considered it kind of country-ish, I liked it but the message didn't pierce the soul (okay so I'm 74). This cover by Disturbed along with the video is the BEST it touches your soul and really gets S&G message to the core of my being and many others too, goosebumps and tears every time. "Neon God" in the 60's TV the advancement of technology NOW there is so many more especially cell phones. Suggestion = The official video by Disturbed “Hold On To Memories” was released Jan 23rd 2020. “Hold on to Memories" is about not only honoring those we’ve lost, but also making the most of our time with those we still have. We are always touched by the stories you share regarding what this song means to you

Lol. I love your reaction! This is an amazing version of this song and David Draiman's tone and technique are incredible. He was trained as a cantor, singing liturgical music. He's SO powerful, I get chills no matter how many times I see this. This is an anomaly for their style. They're normally nu metal. If you want more like this (vs the harder stuff, which is amazing, too) try, "A Reason To Fight" the video is beautifully done; "Hold Onto Memories," "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You" (cover of Sting's song, watch the video) or if you want to dip your toes into harder stuff, maybe start with "Are You Ready?"; "Stricken"; "Indestructible." "Down With The Sickness" is probably their best known and the drums will stick in your head for hours. There's a brutal section that doesn't show up in the video, but how deep do you want to dive right at the beginning? Lol. That technique is under everything he does, supporting the distortion so even the "screaming" is melodic. They are incredible! And if you pick apart their lyrics, they're usually really meaningful.

Disturbed took this song to a totally new level. People who listened to the folk style of Simon and Garfunkel really did not pay attention to the actual words of the song. David Draman made you sit up, take notice and listen to the message in the song! totally insane!

I know there's probably a lot of comments saying this, but you absolutely need to check out the live version they did on the Conan O'Brien show, and do a reaction. If you believe it, a lot of people think the live version is better than this. It really is insane how well he sang it.

Disturbed has done several covers of great older songs. Besides this one of Simon and Garfunkel’s they did Shout by Tears For Fears, and Land of Confusion by Genesis. I love anything from the Down With the Sickness. But this song shows David Draiman’s chops. No autotune just pure talent. He can sing songs like this and the. Roll into Down With the Sicknes where he screams and kills it.

As an 18 year fan of Disturbed, I think I can say this: this song blows people's minds, and rightfully so, but it isn't an accurate representation of the music they put out. It's an excellent introduction to David's vocals, but I'm sure many first time listeners heard this, went to research their catalog, then said "WTF" because the sound is so different. If you do look them up, try to listen past the "sound": the vocals, feelings, and social issues expressed here are still a big part of their music and worth listening to.

If you want to hear some amazing metal vocals you should have a look at gloryhammer. This band's hilarious and they classify themselves as intergalactic spacemetal! LOL but the lead singer Angus mcfife"s vocal range is out of this world, pardon the pun. . A great song by them is t"he unicorn invasion of Dundee or hootsforce! Lol. Another fun one is nanowar of steel -valhallaluha! Do yourself a favor and don't read up on the song beforehand because it will ruin the surprise.
