Also in Telegraph Road Terry is superb, just like the keyboardplayer. But you don't hear that on the studio versions. Now I am waiting for "my troll to react with: Their studioversions are always better" 😉
@ksoman953 Жыл бұрын
@@larairina3922 It's not about better or worse. The original (recorded 4ish years earlier) had drummer Pick Withers who had a different style than Terry who was more suitable for stadium sized concerts. Pick was not a session player, he was part of DS and did both studio and live till he quit the band and Terry stepped in. If you ever listen to the isolated drums played by either on this song, you'd know why both had their own place and time on this song. Same song, two different moods. No question both were remarkable in their own ways.

Ever seen that movie "Soul"? It deals a lot with how creative people get into that zone of "flow", where everything's clicking and you're just dancing with the muse. That grin, to me, is what it looks like when masters are flowing together and making a total bigger than the sum of its parts. I'm right there on the welling-up thing. I've seen this so many times, and it never fails to bring a tear to my eye. It's just so gloriously human, in the best possible sense of the word, and God knows we don't get to trot-out the positive meanings of that term very often.

Wow, your awesome reaction took me right back to how I felt the first time I saw this incredible video! My eyes still fill with tears almost every time the slow part of Knopfler's solo begins. Really felt like I hit the jackpot when you also did a reaction to The Hu [another favourite of mine] recently too. Your enthusiasm is so infectious. So, new sub!

A big respect to the Sultans of swing, a Band , used to perform in Fun Fair of Glasgow , when Mark , was young

I feel like in that particular moment, it was just the band. They were completely focused on that improv session, forgetting about the audience or anything else. They could have played like this for five people and just had a great time doing it. Completely lost in jamming the hell out. It's magical.
