This is a commentary on the draft during the VietNam War . The message was that wealthy,privileged, a”senator s son “ or a”millionaire’s son” could avoid being drafted, while those not so fortunate were. It was a popular anti war song in 1969, the year it was released.

One of their best songs. Right with the Vietnam war, but still rings true today. It is an America I love - not todays hatred and violence. Those where the days (but Vietnam was NOT funny either). "Bad moon rising" is one more suggestion from CCR.
