Section 107 of the Copyright Act provides the statutory framework for determining whether something is a fair use and identifies certain types of uses-such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research-as examples of activities that may qualify as fair use. The original version is from the Black Rose album by Thin Lizzy. Philip Lynott was the first Black Irish rockstar. Born in Birmingham UK but raised in Crumlin, a suburb of Dublin, Ireland. I played with three of the musicians on that stage at various times but not the superb bass player. Thank you for reviewing that version with Gary singing. P.s; you are delightful and if you were to propose to me in this Leap Year, I would marry you instantly. 🥰

This was brilliant. Gary Moore was without a doubt the greatest guitarist ever to walk this earth. We sadly lost him 13 years ago on 6th February. R.I.P Gary. 😊😎🎸🇬🇧🇺🇦

It's pronounced "ro-sheen doe". It's in Gaelige, the Irish language. Roisin Dubh or Dark Rosaleen, is the ancient female symbol of Ireland. She is the suffering feminine figure from myth and Symbolism. The lyrics references a lot of cultural figures from Ireland's past: Cuchulainn is an ancient hero from the Tain Bo Cualinge, which is an ancient saga of the Ulster region in Ireland. A later verse references several famous 19th and 20th century Irish writers: Oscar Wilde, late 19th century playwright; William Butler Yeats, late 19th early 20th century poet; John Millington Synge, 20th century playwright; George Bernard Shaw, 20th century playwright from Ireland; James Joyce, 20th century novelist. It's a mixture of the great Irish cultural figures. Later the rock singer Van Morrison is mentioned. The song is highlighting the cultural continuity that has roots in the feminine source which is Roisin Dubh (Dark Rosaleen or the Black Rose ).

I don't know too much about the Irish legends, sorry. But Phil Lynott did, and he told them all over the world, when touring with THIN LIZZY. Those guitars where awsome, agree? GARRY MOORE AND SCOTT GORHAM,great players. But what about the drummer? BRIAN DOWNEY, to me he is one of the greatest ever. This was awesom, and there is much more! Thin Lizzy has a lot of great songs, so...please do more 😅. Thank you verry much, sweet Faye, loved this one. 👊😁❤️👍

You're not the only one that don't understand the lyrics😊, not more than it's about legends! I can only talk for myself, for me this song is more about the music / instrumentals. I think when Gary and Phil put this old folksongs together they focused on the instrumentals. And they highlighted the typical Thin Lizzy sound: The harmonizing twin guitars wich was their trademark. Great reaction😊!
