After David Lee Roth left Van Halen for the first time, he went to school to become an EMT. For several years he was an EMT in New York City. Whenever I see this video and DLR as the driver of that school bus, I always wondered what it would have been like to be a pedestrian in NYC who tripped on a curb, broke their leg, and when the ambulance arrived: out jumps David Lee Roth? I probably would have just had a heart attack and died!

@FB…Alexis & Burch, To put this song/video into context, you have to consider what was happening in the country & in US politics during 1984/1985. There was a huge uproar in the US, when Tipper Gore ( the veeps wife) was testifying before congress attempting to get music lyrics censored and albums banned…Also testifying were Frank Zappa, Dee Snyder and Ted Nugent amongst many musical artists who fought very hard and spoke out publicly against censoring their constitutional right to free speech; instead of censorship or a ban, a rating system was established affixing warning stickers for parents/children on music with suggestive content. This video (banned by MTV) was Van Halen’s “big middle-finger” to the US government, the establishment, Tipper G.and all of her followers calling for censorship in Music (Art) …In 1985, VH put out this upbeat & “mockingly” fun track with this very racy video because they could lawfully do it, while pushing the envelope on the expression of free-speech in Music…. Good Luck Jjh

That all said, I think the only video every teenage boy may have liked better than this one was David Lee Roth's solo cover of The Beach Boys' California Girls, and Wave Babies by Honeymoon Suite. 1984-1985 was a great time for music and videos. There were probably others but these 3 really stand out.

I was in 8th grade when this came out & wad a bit of a troublemaker. Our math teacher was going on vacation for a week. She told us all (me specifically) that any detentions we got from the sub would be doubled when she got back. First day of the sub, me and my friend unintentionally walked into class a minute late. When called out on that, the thought just randomly popped into my head, completely unplanned. I turned to look up at the clock, turned back to the sub and said, Aw man, I think the clock is slow. I don't feel tardy. The entire class busted out laughing. Detention #1. Later in the class the sub asked a question and, I guess following my lead, my friend Roberto raised his hand. When called on, instead of answering the question, he said, I brought my pencil. Now give me something to write on man. Again, everyone laughed. I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair. Detention #2 for both of us and #3 for leaving my chair. Doubled up, I got 6 detentions on the first day of the substitute just because an awesome Van Halen song popped into my head at a perfectly fitting time.
