A very heavily requested , Eruption by Eddie Van Halen. We reacted to the live version of the solo as it was one of our most requested and specific versions. Alexis really liked Eddie and Burch explained the significant role he played in the music industry.

The thing I love most about this is that I've seen Eddie live a few times, and it was true every time. Whenever Eddie comes out to do his solo, the crowd goes nuts. However, the minute he starts to play, it goes so silent. The audience respected him so much that they wanted to hear every note. As you can see, they cheer in between the breaks of the solo, but quite down as he plays. What a privilege it was to see him live. May he RIP. 😪🎸

@@zarymahmud9084 Indeed although he was of course born and raised in Holland. Dutch was his native language and also that of both his parents. His father was a native Dutchman (a musician) and his mother was by blood half Dutch/half Indonesian. She was born in Indonesia wich was a Dutch colony at that time and she was raised speaking Dutch. So indeed Eddie was by blood 3/4 Dutch and 1/4 Indonesian.

I was a teenager when I first hear Van Halen's "Runnin' with the Devil". That song made everyone stop and say 'HOLY CRAP, what is that'? Then, "Eruption" came. At the time it was HUGE stuff!!!! Eddie's cheesy smile and you can see how much he loved what he was doing. I'm pulling this concert up to watch it again.

This live solo is called Eruption, but is actually a meshing of many of Eddie’s individual album solos, all put together… Spanish Fly, Eruption, Little Guitars, Cathedral, Mean Street, and 316… This was the climax of every live VH concert.

BURRRCHHH .. been waiting for this one, thank you!! I've seen VH 8 times in concert and was there for the Roth reunion. I took my elderly dad who was 70 on Nov 1st 2007 to Washington D.C Verizon Center. Paid 800.00 for each ticket for the 5 star VIP package (1600.00) total. I will NEVER pay that for anyone else .... ever. This is Eddie fk'n Van Halen we are talking about. He deserved it. 125 tix sold out of an arena of 20k. We were front and center. We were let inside 3hrs before show time to hear soundcheck and Cathedral was magical. Empty arena, just Ed on stage. They split us into 3 groups (125 is a lot of people) and they took us down to the stage 1 group at a time. We had a stage tour, got to peak inside Ed's makeshift guitar "hut" (plywood) where his guitars are tuned and there was Frankenstrat. The original, first time on tour since the 80's. He walked down the row and shook everyone's hand and we had about 90 secs to say what we wanted (lots of people to get through).I had my Ibanez RT650 in hand, and he shook my hand, I told him how much he changed my life with his music and asked him if he would sign my guitar. He smiled at me and said "of course, I hope to spot you in the crowd tonight". 4hrs later, he did. I had a flip top phone and the pics I got by 2007 standards were awesome. I noticed people on my right side looking at me (towards my way) and couldn't figure out what was going on. My dad tapped my arm and said "look to your left". I did, and there was Valerie Bertinelli standing next to me with her new fiance (at the time) watching to support her son Wolf on bass. He was 16. Her eyes never left him no matter how many people were watching her. A true mom moment. This one night will FOREVER stay in my heart and my memories and yes, I still have the guitar and the amazing photos including ones of Val. Thank you Ed!

What Eddie did here, and in most solo segments in concert, was to play riffs and various techniques used throughout the albums over the years...including sections of Eruption that are interspersed throughout this. I've seen this countless times...and it never gets old watching new people react. That's one of the things that Eddie did....he always wanted to see what he could get the guitar to do! He and his brother were trained as little boys to be concert pianists....and Eddie actually won competitions...but he never learned to read music, and was still a musical genius! I saw Van Halen three times and it wasn't enough! He passed October 6th, 2020....and there will never be another......RIP, King Edward!

I'm nearly 60 and can only say how fortunate and lucky I was to not only live in the Eddie Van Halen era - but got to see the original band in 1984 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto. Oct 6/2020 I was devastated and literally moved to tears when I heard the news we'd lost him. I'm typically not an emotional kind of guy - but his passing really had a heartfelt impact. His music had always been a huge part of my life's soundtrack since 1978. I recall the exact moment and circumstances I heard their first VH album in '78 and what a visceral reaction I had. And I vividly recall the night we cranked Live Without A Net on a huge soundsystem and had half the neighbourhod in our living room absolutely fixated on the concert. His legacy and legend will live on for generations.

I've seen VH live 5 or 6 times and watching this video flushed out the goosebumps from head to toe. How lucky to be alive the same time as EVH; what a legacy!

Your so right about the classical influence with Eddie. He made us all unintentional classic music fans. Classical music is thought by many music historians to be the rock/metal of that time period. The great composers of history would recognize his musical genius if they were ever able to hear him play.

I feel so I fortunate to have seen Eddie live 7 times. I also saw the 5150 tour where he played a similar guitar solo. I was so mesmerized watching it. At one point, I realized I had both of my hands on my face with my mouth wide open. I was in total disbelief. And I love seeing people watching Eddie for the first time. He’s timeless.

The absolute BEST solo he ever perfomed and I've seen a ton of shows/bootlegs. He had to be sober for this concert shoot and it shows big time! Drunk or sober, he's the best. Simple as that. (Yes he picks up a cup but it's not alcohol)

Don't feel bad. I'm 57 years old. I grew up with Van Halen too. Every time I hear Van Halen I cry. I'm a grown man. I don't give a s*** I have Eddie sticker on the back of my car. Unbelievable. He was just unbelievable to watch in concert. You couldn't take your f****** eyes off of them. I miss him so much. So does everybody else in the world? Unbelievable he he was the best to go the best. I have seen Van Halen so many times what they really Roth and without with Sammy Hagar. She may hangar is better by himself. He's a nice guy but he got pushed out. Anyhow, it sucks. I don't know why he had to die so early because the cancer he wouldn't stop smoking. He was the best day in the world. There's never going to be another. Eddie, Rest in peace brother. I live in South Florida

EVH was simply incredible. He had this amazing arsenal of tricks and techniques at his disposal, all of which he likely mastered by practicing in his bedroom as a kid. You name it - two-handed tapping, pinch harmonics, tapping onto bent notes, lightening-fast legato runs, palm-muted arpeggios - he could do it. And don't even get me started on his tone. From the moment people first heard those first few chords on the first song of the Van Halen I album, guitar was never the same.

Eddie was a trained classical pianist. He said he developed the 2 hand technique by thinking of the guitar neck as a keyboard. All his invention was displayed within the structure of songs written for albums. He also displayed a lot of humor in his playing.

@@generic53 Ed and Alex while attending a Led Zeppelin concert live watching Jimmy Page play peaked this interest and idea. It makes since with Jimmy Page doing two handed tricks clear back to the 60s on his guitar. You can even see some in live BBC clips of Dazed And Confused.

Eddie was one of the greats no doubt. I grew up in the sixties and seventies with Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Carlos Santana, Niel Schon, Randy Bachman and Brian May. Check out some early Queen, say Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Day at the Races and A Night at the Opera. Brian's Red Special truly sings. He's also got just a guitar piece called "Last Horizon". Also show her "Dazed and Confused", "The Song Remains the Same/The Rain Song" from Madison Square Garden in 1973 used in the 1976 movie "The Song Remains the Same".
