You're only 12 years older than Jett, so I don't think your fandom is that shocking. If you'd been a 77 year old when this video was made, sure. But as someone in their mid 30s at the time? A little above the target age for the music, but not THAT much.

You'd recognize The Runaway's biggest hit, "Cherry Bomb". Originally sang by Cherie Currie. After Cherie left Joan took over full lead vocals. Joan and Cherie both did lead, depending on the song. The band also contained Lita Ford, she went on to solo success with "Kiss Me Deadly", and a duet with Ozzy "Close My Eyes Forever", as her biggest hits. Fun fact, in the very begging of The Runaways, Michel Steele was the bassist. She quit, and later joined the Bangles.

Yeah, I think Cherry Bomb was the only big hit song from the Runaways. A song written by Joan (she was 16 or 17 at the time) and manager Kim Fowley. I actually prefer the 1984 version of Cherry Bomb, when Joan re-recorded it with the Blackhearts.

I saw Joan Jett and the Blackhearts as the warm up band for The Police at a concert in Ann Arbor, MI way back in 1982. The Go-Go's were supposed to be the warm up but they were just starting to get some airplay so they got pulled off the tour. Joan filled in and KICKED ASS. The week she played here I Love Rock and Roll hit number 1 on the charts.

The Runaways are probably more noted for the individuals who came out of that band. Besides Jett, we have Lita Ford, who had a successful metal career with hits such as "Kiss Me Deadly" and an absolute classic duet with Ozzy Osbourne called "Close My Eyes Forever". Also in that group was Michael Steele, who went on to join the Bangles, who were a hugely successful girl band in the mid to late '80s. You totally need to check out "Walk Like An Egyptian." "Manic Monday", written by Prince was also a huge hit. Then, if you like the Bangles, (and I know you will) you also need to check out the group that they succeeded as the world's biggest girl band ("band" being defined as playing their own instruments, as opposed to just four girls singing), the Go-Gos. (We Got the Beat, Vacation, Our Lips Are Sealed etc.) Besides Joan Jett, the other similar rocker chick of the MTV era was Pat Benatar, who had hits such as "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Heartbreaker", and "Love Is A Battlefield". Finally, I'd also recommend Heart, not a girl band per se, but the lead singer and lead guitarist were sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. In the seventies, they were kind of Zepplinesque, with hits like "Crazy on You", "Barracuda" and "Magic Man". In the eighties, they became more of a mainstream commercial rock group (some say sellout, but they did it well) with hits like "What About Love", "These Dreams" and "All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You."

This has probably been mentioned in the comments, but….This song took on even more popularity with the premier of NBC Sunday Night Football in 2006.(USA) The music became the opening theme song for the football game, which is normally the highest-rated NFL game of each week. Different lyrics were used, however. The song was entitled, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” and it’s been sung by different vocalists, through the years. Still, Joan’s music has been introduced to multiple generations of American-Football fans, since then, making the song immediately recognizable to more people than ever.

She jammed out 20 songs! Not only is music good for one's soul, awesome tunes like this are a key ingredient of the fountain of youth. Rock On, Diane! Let's Dance! So many great artists yet to get to, the anticipation of what's in the queue is almost unbearable...to the point of succumbing to those rock star habits. An entrepreneur from the age of 15, Joan Jett is a great example of what drive, commitment, and purpose will get ye. No big Record Company will sign, Feck It, starts her own. Gotta admire you gals with that go get 'em attitude! I'd bet even ED enjoyed the vibe on this one.

The movie “The Runaways” came out in 2010 was based on the story of the band. I absolutely adore Joan and got to see her play about 20 years ago. She was still absolutely stunning. My first musical crush

❤ I saw Joan Jett a few years ago . She's still rocking. I just seen Lita Ford ( The Runaways) a few weeks ago and She's equally rocking it out.

Also check out JJ with the Runaways. Lita Ford is the other guitarist in the band. The song Wasted has a real punk vibe. UK live video from 1977.The title pretty much tells you about the subject matter 😳.

I’ve enjoyed a lot of Jett’s material but this is my favorite song by her. I think she, along with Pat Benatar, is why I think female Rock vocalists bring so much. They can bring an edge while also exhibiting a lot of just pure talent. That may be why I’m such a huge fan of Jinjer’s Tatiana Shmayluk, who is just insanely talented.

Joan was also in the movie “Light of Day” with Michael J. Fox. Her song from the movie called “Light of Day” is great. Her song “Bad Reputation” is also great.

I saw Joan open for Robert Plant here in Tulsa when this was a new album. She wore a white leather jacket. Bad ass in that color, too! Really a great live show. I think of that any time I hear (or hear of) this song.
