@@robertwadas One of the lines in the song is 'Imagine there's no countries'. That sounds like the opposite of 'the Gov will take care of you' or 'do as the Gov says'. 'Imagine there's no heaven', 'Living for today' suggest to me that he realised there are a bunch of people not living in the now and trying to make life on Earth better. They are just waiting for a better Afterlife that might not even exist. Surely it's better to live your life the best way you can, attempt to be a nicer, more caring person and enjoy a life shared with others who are trying to do the same. @@robertwadas communism is a stateless classless moneyless society. All former communist nations were merely ruled by communists, they did not achieve it. In the USSR the capitalist class was replaced with a vanguard (this is also how north Korea works too). This meant that there were, in principle, no taxes. You would work for the state like it was your boss, taxes were the surplus you produced. China and Vietnam do something similar, but they have special economic zones where capitalism is allowed. Yugoslavia tried to do "market socialism" but it ended up looking much like modern-day China as the state-owned large shares in cooperatives. Cuba is the only country I would actually call socialist as they use a mixed cooperative and planning-based economy. I would gladly move to Cuba in a heartbeat if given the chance, and a better opportunity to learn Spanish XD they have more democracy than the US! Since achieving communism is out of the question, we need some kind of feasible transitionary state in between. I would advocate for a type of market socialism where workers would freely form cooperatives and exchange goods via a market. The state would raise taxes through a land tax instead of owning shares of coops. This would allow for the liberation of the workers while also creating economic growth.

War, war is stupid and people are stupid And love means nothing in some strange quarters War, war is stupid and people are stupid And I heard them banging on hearts and fingers War Man is far behind in the search of something new Like a philistine, we're burning witches too This world of hate must be designed for you It matters what you say, it matters what you do Now we're fighting in our hearts Fighting in the streets Won't somebody help me?

Ram Is one of Paul's best Albums. It is full of exquisite Voice Leading and Contrary motion. What was so refreshing was that it sounded nothing like a Beatles album not that he did this on purpose but he explored music in a different way. People shouldn't compare the two legends. They were perfect for each other, became like brothers which meant they could fight just as siblings did. If I yelled at my best friend then this would cause friction and bad feelings however if I do the same to my sister then it's OK after she has thrown something at me. This is what their relationship was like. Had John not been killed then I am certain they would of worked together again probably in the 80s or 90s.

Lennon was a visionary, this song will be around for all to take heed, being human is what we all need take from this and we may not have all that much time on this planet we live but we breathe the same air we feel the same pain , the message is clear you just need to open your mind and heart and maybe 1 day if only 1 day we will be as 1

IMAGINE by John "Lennon was inspired by several poems from wife Yoko Ono's 1964 book Grapefruit... Lennon later explained that the song "should be credited as a Lennon/Ono song. A lot of it - the lyric and the concept - came from Yoko, but in those days I was a bit more selfish, a bit more macho, and I sort of omitted her contribution, but it was right out of Grapefruit." "Lennon composed the song one morning in early 1971. It was written on a Steinway piano, in a bedroom at his Tittenhurst Park home in Ascot. Yoko Ono watched on as he composed the melody, chords and most of the lyrics, and nearly completed the whole song in one short writing session." Taken from "The Story of... 'Imagine' by John Lennon" by Tom Eames (October 2020).
