Sadly, my mom died exactly 5 months to the day before my parent's 50th anniversary. She had aggressive cancer, and her local congregation through them an early anniversary party. When I heard about it, it brought me to tears. I wish I could have been there, but they lived in another state, and I didn't know they were going to do it.

@@tomwilliams5137 7 times? Are you sure? I only remember the one he was married to for many years that used to be on “Hee-Haw” with him-? Mary Ann? She was his son’s mom, & they lived in a ranch/?mansion in Athens, GA. My uncles worked for a company that was hired to put up fencing around it when they first built it. Not sure if they stayed married or got divorced-he’d been really out of the limelight for many yrs., so there hadn’t been a lot publicized about him for a long time like there was in the ‘70’s & ‘80’s. Either way, he still could write & sing a love song like nobody else! Maybe his charm was what all the ladies loved, you know? 😉So few men have anywhere near that kind of charm these days! That kind of charm & sensitivity + being TRUE, GENUINE, & FAITHFUL=a winner! Anyone having those characteristics AND being able to sing like that to a woman with a beautiful smile is a bonus!

He was a true gentleman and never intended to hurt anyone.

I'm glad you discovered the music of the legendary Kenny Rogers. "Lady: was written by Lionel Richie and Kenny Rogers recorded the song and it went to #1 on the pop charts for 6 weeks in 1980. Kenny Rogers was known for country story songs and love songs. My favorite story songs that I'd recommend you try are "The Gambler" and "Coward Of The County". The love song ballads of his that I'd recommend are "Through The Years", "She Believes In Me", You Decorated My Life", "Love The World Away" and "Crazy". I'd also recommend his classic duet that he sang with Dolly Parton "Islands In The Steam.".

They could serious belt that one out! Hits all the feels, right where you want them to be. I wonder what happened to Sheena Easton? Haven’t heard her name mentioned in years! Sad that a lot of the older(as in original, not as in age!) folks are like that. Miss hearing songs by her, Crystal Gayle, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Olivia Newton John, & a lot of others. A lot have just gotten older, raised families, & retired due to age &/or being sick. Then again, I prob. would, too, if I could financially manage without the difficult times of being on the road all the time! I’m seriously surprised that Dolly’s still touring, but she seems to be handling it well & loving it!

Kenny has always been a lover of those love grabbers. From way way back I remember the first time I heard him I was probably 15 or 16 in 68 . Called Ruby don't take your love to town. CRIED LIKE A BABY. AND FELL IN LOVE WITH KENNY RODGERS.. Then there is Coward of the county .also cried like a baby. And love will turn you around. There are so many his last one before he passed was with his bestie Dolly Parton. Called you can't make old friends. He has so many but these are a few good ones. I will have to look up some more.

Oh man, quite a few good songs by Kenny. I'm sure a lot have been suggested already. My favorite as a kid was The Gambler though. Also, Lucille.

I used to sing this to my wife all the time. At karaoke, while she was cleaning or when I came home from work. She died of brain cancer 4 years ago and everytime I hear this song it brings a tear to my eyes.

Try “She Believes In Me”, “The Vows Go Unbroken”, “The Last Ten Years”, “Sweet Music Man”, “Love The World Away”, “Islands In The Stream” (a duet w/Dolly Parton), & “We’ve Got Tonight” (a duet w/Sheena Easton), all sung by Kenny Rogers. You’ll love those!

Fun “Behind the Song” story; In a 2012 Lionel Richie tribute, before Kenny & Lionel sing Lady together (really good. link below), Kenny tells how he called Lionel, to write a song for him. When they met for the 1st time, Lionel had only 1 word, “Lady”, & a bit of melody. 6 months later they’re in the studio. Kenny recorded the 1st verse, asked where the 2nd verse was & found out that Lionel was in the toilet, writing the rest of the song. In a later interview, Lionel adds to the story, making it even funnier. He said, the 1 word he had was actually “Baby”, but when they met, Kenny kept talking about his wife, repeatedly calling her a “Lady”, so when Kenny asked the name of the song, Lionel blurted out “Lady.” kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJSbeoFje9OFn8U

Kenny Rogers is a country legend. He did several duets with Dolly Parton that are totally great. One of his most famous songs, outside of Lady is the Gambler, and Lucille.

I fell in love with this song 25 yrs. ago. I went on a Kenny Rogers marathon. I listened to him every chance I could. I have this song in my playlist. Do a reaction to Gerald Levert's Made to Love You. Girl....that's the type of song you want to get married to. I want to see you react to Jaheim's Remarkable too.
