Bruces brother Bob, was the unofficial 5th member of KISS for years. Bob also played with WASP and Meatloaf. Bruce and Eric Carr (drums) had a great relationship/friendship. Bruce produced a cd (after Erics death) of stuff him and Eric had been working on before Eric passed. Its pronounced Cue-lick.

My favorite guitar solo of all time is Bob's solo in W.A.S.P.'s "The Idol". Other-worldy...
@sumonjamal1653Ай бұрын
Kiss was a beast in the 80's without makeup... Paul and Gene were always giving 100% live and Eric Carr (drums) was a phenomenal talent on the kit (from 1980 to 1991) ... In 1973, Kiss auditioned a guitarist name Bob Kulick and he was passed over for Ace Frehley (lead guitar) for the original band. However, Bob Kulick stayed in touch w/ Kiss and they called him to do studio sessions in the 70's and early 80's for Kiss albums when Ace Frehley was too bombed to play... Bob Kulick became a high profile musician, playing w/ the likes of Meat Loaf... Alice Cooper... W.A.S.P. ... etc. (He passed away in 2020 at age 70) So, Bob Kulick's younger brother was guitarist Bruce Kulick, who also played w/ Meat Loaf and eventually joined the band Blackjack, which featured Michael Bolton on lead vocals(!) ... and toured w/ a solo Michael Bolton (before he became a crooner) In 1984, Kiss was recording the album 'Animalize' after firing lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent and hiring Mark St. John (who recorded most of the solos on the album)... but Paul and Gene were recording in separate studios... Gene needed a couple of guitar solos for his songs and Bob Kulick had recommended Bruce Kulick to Kiss... So, Bruce Kulick did play on 'Animalize' as a session guitarist. Unfortunately, lead guitarist Mark St. John developed an arthritic condition that left him unable to play guitar for the tour in '84 (He reportedly only played 3 shows w/ Kiss) ... and Bruce Kulick was called again to do the tour. After it was apparent that Mark St. John was not healthy enough for the gig, he was let go ... and Bruce Kulick joined Kiss full-time. From what I read, it was not an easy gig... Bruce Kulick recalled stepping onstage w/ Gene and Paul and the two were running around and owning the stage and he was terrified of running into them, so he stood rooted and concentrated on his guitar playing... Paul Stanley recalled when Kiss played in England, the British press called him 'Spruce Kulick' cos he wasn't mobile onstage. But the partnership was a good one... he was reliable and one of the best guitarists that had been in Kiss... his playing was different from Ace Frehley and he never quite got the credit he deserved... His playing was on display in the 1984 concert video 'Animalize live uncensored'... which captured a non-makeup Kiss concert for MTV After Eric Carr passed away in 1991, Eric Singer (drums) joined Kiss in 1992 and the album 'Revenge' was one of their best records... Kiss performed on MTV 'Unplugged' in 1995 w/ the intention of releasing a 'grunge rock' Kiss album 'Carnival of Souls' in 1996... However, the reunion w/ Peter Criss and Ace Frehley brought the original Kiss back together for a world tour in '96. Both Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer was let go... But due to issues between Kiss and Peter & Ace, Bruce Kulick ended up contributing tracks to what was supposed to be the original Kiss' new album 'Psycho Circus' in 1998... Eric Singer returned to Kiss in 2001 donning Peter Criss' makeup character... Bruce Kulick was not enthusiastic about dressing up or playing like Ace Frehley in Kiss, so lead guitarist Tommy Thayer took Ace's spot in 2002. Bruce Kulick (who is 70 now) did record 2 albums w/ John Corabi (who was briefly the singer of Motley Crue in 1994) and their band Union released 2 stellar rock albums that were overlooked - 'Union' (1998) and 'The Blue Room' (2000)... Bruce Kulick began touring in 2000 w/ Grand Funk Railroad as a live guitarist - a role he played until 2023... He did perform w/ Kiss on numerous 'Kiss Kruise' events and played bass on Paul Stanley's 2006 solo album 'Live to win'. From what I've heard, Bruce Kulick and his solo band have been performing Kiss songs in concert from his era w/ the band.

Bruce really desereves a lot of credit for helping to keep KISS relevent in the 80s. He had the perfect style and sound for this era. Pronounced "cue-lick," his brother Bob was a ghost player for Ace in the 70s.

Bruce Kulick took over for Mark St. John after he was diagnosed with reactive arthritis. Bruce would be ready behind the stage if Mark couldn't play. So Bruce played most of the tour and was hired afterwards. Was the lead guitarist from 1984-1996. The last Kiss album he played on was Carnival Of Souls - The Final Sessions from 1997. A very heavy album. Bruce did a lot of the guitar and bass on that album and sang on I Walk Alone. After Kiss made the Reunion Bruce and drummer Eric Singer left. Eric was later hired to take over for Peter Criss. Bruce did Union with John Corabi from Motley Crue. A few suggestions to check out. Kiss - Hate, Childhood's End and Seduction Of The Innocent. All from the Carnival Of Souls album. Also I Walk Alone sung by Bruce Kulick. Union - Love (I Don't Need It Anymore, Old Man Wise and Dear Friend (tribute to Eric Carr) Blackthorne - Afterlife. Bob Kulick with a visit from his brother Bruce. Graham Bonnet on lead vocals. Bob Kulick did some studio recordings for Kiss.

Technical skill wise, Bruce is the best guitarist that KISS ever had. His playing is just amazing and on par. Him with Eric Carr was just awesome, especially in concert. You have seen Bruce before, he was playing guitar on the video I Still Love You that you made. Also on the video for Unholy, God Of Thunder, Under The Gun and War Machine. He started with KISS 1984 and played with them through to the reunion tour in 1996. His brother Bob Kulick had done some studio work with them, on lead guitar, during Alive 2 studio songs and some others. While some fans aren't too thrilled with the album Carnival Of Souls (the reunion tour interfered with its release and was eventually released later) it is one of their best studio albums as far as song writing and Bruce's guitar playing on it is just fantastic. Give some of those songs a listen (like Jungle, Hate, Rain, Childhood's End, I Will Be There, It Never Goes Away, Master And Slave), I mean the entire album is pretty great. Bruce has a song on there where he does the co-writing and singing called I Walk Alone, so our first, and last time hearing him as lead singer.

When you said, "Van Halen", I was thinking to myself throughout the solo that he should probably develop his own style instead of trying to play like Eddie. I don't mean that Eddie "owns" tapping or any other technique, But it seemed to me like everything he did was from Eddie's catalogue. The song was def hard-driving but not very well put together. Idk. I'm nobody, but that is my opinion. First time hearing this. You can pull anything from the 80s by them and chances are that I haven't heard it unless it became a radio hit. Killer drummer and killer guitar player but they can't take the place of the original gangsters - Peter and Ace, the soul of Kiss.🤘🤘

Bruce's older brother Bob was also involved with KISS, but more as a studio session artist rather than an official band member, especially during the period before Ace was fired but struggling with drug/alcohol dependency. Bob helped Bruce get the gig with KISS after Vinnie Vincent left the band. Bruce went on to play with later incarnations of Grand Funk Railroad for quite a few years. Super nice guy, sat next to him on a plane and thought it looked like him, but saw he was wearing a GFR denim jacket. So finally as I asked him if he was Bruce Kulick that played with KISS and we ended up chatting about music quite a while. I forced myself to talk to him about GFR and their music catalog since that was his current gig and he seemed surprised but appreciative of that, since most people don't know about GFR as much as KISS. ❤
