AR Rehman's father worshiped her in the morning before starting his day, Sanjay Leela Bhansali listens to 5 songs of hers before starting his day. Every song of hers is beautiful. Composers composed for her. Her live singing is as perfect as her studio ones. Effortlessly reaches the high notes (which is every singer's dream). Happy listening to Lata Mangeshkar. You are correct that our lyrics are poetic. They are full of poetry.

No you got one thing wrong, she didn't write that song, in her times firstly the music composer composes a tune and then a lyricist writes on that tune and then the singer sings. It was a completely different world back then. I'm 21 and I can confirm that our Indian music has drastically crumbled so I still stick to the old music. It's just so rich! and thanks for the reaction!

Check out the sheer technical mastery in songs like Mohay panghat par, Suno sajna papihey ne, Tere mere beech mein kaisa hai ye Bandhan, etc. Then the sheer sweetness in Baiyaan na dharo, Raina beeti jaay, Aap ki nazron ne samjha...etc And her higher octave renditions like her cameo aalaap in Aa ab laut chale (duet with Mukesh), Ye dil aur unki nigahon ke saaye and Main hoon khush rang Heena....all these are mere drops in the ocean.

Old Indian songs, especially those before the 80s, are often rooted in Indian classical music, a tradition that is deeply scientific in its structure. The unique combinations of the 12 musical notes in each Raga are thoughtfully curated, with certain notes chosen or omitted to evoke specific emotions and reactions. These compositions are designed to resonate differently at various times of the day and across seasons, reflecting the profound depth of India’s cultural heritage. When performed by classically trained maestros like Lata Ji, who not only understands but also feels every nuance of the composition, the result is nothing short of magical. Truly, it is a celebration of artistry, precision, and the timeless beauty of Indian classical music. What do you think? Thanks for your beautiful and insightful reaction mate. Much love from India ❤. Jai Hind 🇮🇳. *Note: Recommend the song "Aye mere watan ke logon" by her*

Shreya Goshal idolises Lata Mangeshkar. Lata established a style of singing for females singers that others have had to emulate ever since, but only Lata had the natural range and soulfulness. You must explore her earlier songs especially from the 1960s till 1990s, probably her voice at its best. She has had an unexpected international pop/rap hit in the UK, USA & Europe as a sample used in the 2002 his song Addiction by American Rap outfit Truth Hurts. Also check out her incredible vocal on 'Satyam Shivam Sundaram' film title song, incredible visuals. You will find her biography incredible - you will then understand why she's 'The Legendary Nightingale of India' and will always be.

I'm so glad you found Lata Mangeshkar 😁 I first found your videos when I was preparing for first semester exams. I haven't really had time to check out youtube with exams going on but, when I saw this video I just had to comment. Lata Mangeshkar is one of the Legends of Indian music. She is the "Nightingale of India" and her passing is a massive blow to the industry, only made sadder by the passing of Bappi Lahiri (the "Disco King" of India) less than 2 weeks after her death😢 . Lataji had a career spanning over 7 decades, with a total of over 50 000 songs in 36 different languages. Lataji is a great introduction to classical music, her memory lives on in her music. Her sister, Asha Bhosle, is also a singer and even recorded a song with cricketer Brett Lee. I'd like to suggest that you listen to the artists of yesteryear and gradually come back to present day artists. You'll find a lot of older songs are sung by classical artists and it will also give you a sense of how Indian music has grown and evolved over time. A number of legendary artists paved the way for modern music. To name a few: Kishore Kumar S.P Balasubrahmanyam (or S.P.B) Kavitha Krishnamurthy Asha Bhosle Mohammed Rafi Sukhwinder Singh This is becoming a bit lengthy, I know. I'm sorry 😅. One last thing, you are right about the lyrics. There's something wholesome and soulful about the lyrics of eastern music that is somewhat rare to find in modern western music. It's amazing to see people only just discovering eastern music and having such respect and appreciation for it. Wishing you all the best on this journey of discovery.☺
