Facts! One of the greatest albums of all time and that's not an exaggeration. I'm 46 years old and still listen to this song all the time. I was 21 when this song came out and Lauryn blew everyone away! Even before she went solo and was with The Fugees (also highly recommend!) She could write her own bars, had phenomenal flow, could sing beautifully and if all that weren't enough she's absolutely gorgeous to boot!

I miss the music of this age. So many were trying to educate us through music. Coming out of a turbulent 90's and into a still turbulent 00's but with hope for a future we could sing to. Sadly, the effects of the towers changed everything and now we live in fear and hate.
@katrenalee16563 жыл бұрын
You are not lying. Things really started tanking right around the time of the Towers coming down. It’s so sad and makes me so angry at the same time. I wish we could all just come back together and realize that we are just being yanked around like puppets by the men in power.

This song came from her multiple Grammy winning album released in 1998 called the "Miseducation of Lauren Hill". This song was huge the lyrics very deep and a great song to dance to in the clubs. You should give her other two massive hits a listen called Ex-factor and Everything is Everything. She was also in a group called the "Fugees" before her solo work (one of the guys was her cousin "Wyclef Jean) with a song call "Ready or Not" and a cover of Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly" from their 1996 Grammy winning album "The Score"

Lauryn is a genius. I do not throw that word around lightly. That album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, is an actual masterpiece, down to the spoken interludes between songs. She wrote, and curated an actual period piece about being black in late 1990’s America, and it resonates to this day. In fact, we’d be in a much better place collectively in this nation if we’d all taken her messages to heart.
