Led Zeppelin were more than just a heavy rock band... they could play acoustic folk, country bluegrass... they even touched on keyboard synth songs on their last record ('All my love') ... Guitarist Jimmy Page got a lot of credit, but bassist John Paul Jones was the quiet genius in Zeppelin - he's playing the mandolin in this clip... Jones could play, bass, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, piano, keyboards... He was a songwriter, multi instrumentalist & producer before he joined Zeppelin in 1968, and he kept busy as a producer/arranger for other artists after Zeppelin's split in 1980. Led Zeppelin was a unique combination of the 4 members, each essential to the band's sound & success... that's why they didn't continue after drummer John Bonham's death; he was the beat of the band & could not be replaced.

You can add recorder to your list... Jonesy played bass, baritone, and tenor recorders to start the record Stairway to Heaven (although live he recreates recorders on the Mellotron). I feel the same about him as you- steady, steadfast and propulsive, he was the glue that kept Zep on track. Peace.

Perfectly put-MAGNIFICO-Jones was the secret weapon( the quiet ever-so-talented one, think he could play almost any instrument placed in front of him, BONZO( well enough said, THE GREATEST DRUMMER EVER-Together the best rhythm section ever!

They loved acoustic music, and lots of it scattered through their albums. They played these epic long concerts, 3, 3 1/2 hours and played an acoustic set in the middle somewhere. Was usually 3,4,5 songs and gave them a chance to rest a bit. Check out the epic Battle of Evermore sometime.

If you're not familiar with Led Zeppelin, they were created in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page, who also produced all their albums. Vocalist Robert Plant also played harmonica, bassist John Paul Jones who also played all keys, and mandolin (like in this video), and drummer John Bonham. They disbanded in 1980 with the death of Bonham. Their music style was considered "hard rock/heavy blues" but they played a variety of genres. I hope you do more Led Zeppelin but keep in mind, they don't have live videos for all their songs.

One of their excellent Folk songs! They played different styles so well. This one only has 2 instruments. Jimmy Page' guitar and John Paul Jones' mandolin. One of my fav of theirs because I'm really into folk. Try Jethro Tull, another old British band who play rock, folk, blues, a little bit of classical and hard rock.

Hey Tay and Steph, Zeppelin was heavily influenced by blues artists....😁 Some of their blusier songs are "When the Levee breaks","In my time of dyin'", and one I'd love to see you react to,is their amazing cover of Otis Rush's "I can't quit you baby"!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

Thanks guys. Enjoyed your reaction. Led Zep are geniuses. If you want other geniuses, try the live recording of Edgar Winter doing Frankenstein with a monster band. It's the song he invented the wearable keyboard for. Edgar and his brother are legends in rock music. They stuff he does in that song was so cutting edge, using the newest equipment available, that the entire thing was a spectacle performed by seriously skilled players. To give you an idea of how good Edgar is, Tina Turner hired him to do the solo for a hit of hers, and he was playing his third instrument. She could have had anyone, and she felt him, on his third, was better than the others on their first.

May I suggest ZEPPELIN's Studio Version of KASHMIR 🎶!! You might have to Pause once, or twice to keeping it from getting Blocked, But the Studio Version of This Song is Absolutely Superb! They Managed to get the aid of The London Symphony Orchistra 🎻🎺 . I mean the Live version is Good, but it can't Match the Pure Majesty of the Studio version!! 🎶
