Yes, the "Midnight Special" version of "You're No Good" is amazing. The band was HOT, and the backing singers were awesome. Most impressive is to see Linda Ronstadt singing LIVE, belting out this song, and adding an extra bit of that beautiful nasty growl to her voice. A must see video! Another great song by Linda is "Tumbling Dice", her most rockin song, ( with great Live versions). Also great is her version of The Eagles "Desperado", and Warren Zevon's great song "Mohammed's Radio".

As you have noticed, Linda is versatile. Her Spanish language music, and American Songbook, think 1940's big band, shows her fidelity to a style. Her joint projects with Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris shows her ability to sing with other great singers and the purity of her voice when not having to compete with a loud rock band. The number of great singers she has had duets with is amazing. She had the power to overshadow them but never did. She sang with them to present a balanced vocals.

Michael Gene Botts (December 8, 1944 - December 9, 2005) was an American drummer, best known for his work with 1970s soft rock band Bread, and as a session musician. During his career, he recorded with Linda Ronstadt, Karla Bonoff, Andrew Gold, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Cetera, Anne Murray, Warren Zevon and Dan Fogelberg, among many others.

The California Rockers from the early Seventies all partied together, and played together and had the same session musicians on their albums (Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Jackson Browne) and sometimes Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, etc. in an area called Coldwater Canyon and Simi Valley. Most of them were friends and collaborators. And the Eagles got their big break from Kenny Rogers. CSNY, Poco, Buffalo Springfield also have overlapping members and friends and recording buddies.

"I Don't Know Much", her duet with Aaron Neville is a gentle and sweet romantic love song. "What's New" is an Old-time Broadway musical song, "Different Drum" is a sad pop song from the sixties, "When Will I Be Loved" is similar to You're No Good. And she did plenty of Country songs in the Seventies. Later, she did a Spanish language album. Incredibly versatile, Yes!

I think it is better live. This came out my sophomore year in HS and I became a huge fan (even had a crush). If you want an idea of how versatile she is listen to "Poor Wandering One" from the Pirates of Penzance (nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical ) La Charreada from Canciones de mi Padre ( won Grammy for Best mexican-American Performance), "After the Gold Rush" from Trio ll with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, (won the Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 2000). Her version of Tumbling Dice" out rocks the Rolling Stones IMHO, and "What's New" with the Nelson Ridder Orchestra - from the Great American Songbook. 5 different genres of music "Poor Wandering One" - Light Opera "La Charreada" - Mexican "After the Gold Rush" - Folk/Country "Tumbling Dice"" - Rock "What's New" - Big Band doing standards Excellent on all cases

I have recently come to the conclusion that she had a talent that might be even better than her voice. It's her talent for the production of music. She had a eye/ear for talent in others and new exactly how to arrange it, what instruments to use and who to play it. One example of that talent is that when two of her band members told her that they wanted to form their own band, she introduced them to two other guys, gave them a place in her home to practice and so the EAGLES were born. Desperado and Willing are my two favorites from her.

"You're No Good" is a song written by Clint Ballard Jr., first performed by Dee Dee Warwick for Jubilee Records in 1963 with production by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Linda Ronstadt is responsible for getting The Eagles together. Several of the band members of The Eagles were Linda's back up band. If you haven't heard The Eagles they should not be missed.

When given the choice, you should always go for the live performance. As others have said, the midnight special performance is really good but there is also a live concert version that is amazing, even the performance in the men's prison is good despite the fact that she and the band look terrified . . . Can't think why . . . Glad you're enjoying the rabbit hole of talent she has. BTW, your favourite LR song will change on a regular basis. 😂
