@@d.a.w.975 If by "song" you mean lyrics, not even close. As for music, that is completely subjective. Zeppelin broke ground and influenced so many after them. Rush did as well, but down a less-followed path. Does popularity equal quality? Is quality always subjectively "better"?...it's whatever touches *you*...

You're right about the drumming, the guitar, etc, it's top notch as usual from Rush. But u didn't even mention the lyrics and song topic. No one else, except Neil Peart, could take the concept of preserving nature, technology, and art and making it into this three 3 part masterpiece like this. It's brilliantly written and only Rush could do it and package it in a ripping, complex rock song. There will never be another band like them.

Neil is such a force of nature it’s hard to hold your own, but that’s what was so amazing about Geddy and Alex; they were forces of nature on their own and this song is a perfect example of that. Alex’s solo and rhythm guitar is spectacular as is Geddy’s bass work. With these incredible lyrics “The most endangered species, the honest man”, more true today than ever; it’s a tour de force by three supremely talented musicians.

I just subscribed... as a life-long Rush fan, I love seeing younger people discover their greatness. Your reaction seems genuine, and not just pandering to the Rush fans for more likes and subscriptions. (The phony reactions are usually pretty easy to spot, and Rush fans are good at spotting them.) That said: if you want to get a major boost in your Rush street cred and hopefully more subscribers, the full album side song "2112" is their masterpiece. A definite epic that you won't regret hearing!

Thats exactly how i also reacted the first time i heard Rush. Hooked ever since. Too many awesome songs to count by Rush, but start from the beginning and go through all their albums. And for gods sake, DONT miss the epic drum solo by Neil "The Professor" Peart from Frankfurt. You will never hear a drum solo that good, and there will be another drummer as good as Neil. RIP. -Rush for life!

Always love your enthusiasm on these reactions. :) this absolutely is a monster performance by Neil, and Alex's solos are insane and soaring, transitioning through the "time periods" evoking futuristic tones... awesome stuff. But go back and listen to the last couple minutes and see how deftly and smoothly Geddy weaves his bass around everything the other two are doing. So much sound from three guys, and amazing in its own right to say, "hey, did you hear how amazingly one guy weaved around the sounds of the other TWO.". But this is the magic of Rush. No space unfilled unless by design, everything with a purpose.

Great reaction Hart - I am as wowed by this song each time I listen to it as you were (I must have heard it a hundred times). There are so many transitions it is somewhat bewildering on first listen, but note that the acoustic chord progression at the beginning returns several times throughout the song - so it is very much an organic piece. BTW you do slightly distort in you loudest reaction moments. :) I too would suggest Xanadu from Exit Stage Left (it's a live performance). The youtube version is a little overly compressed for me so would suggest spotify as optimal (you can turn off normalization under 'settings' / 'music quality').
