If you've never seen "Grease", by all means, watch it! Olivia is a delight in every scene. And she & Travolta were absolute magic together. She didn't go so far into the '80s. That's because the junky music industry gave us junky Madonna and music and lyrical content took a downward turn. Sex sex sex and sex instead of true love songs. Can you imagine Karen Carpenter or Olivia Newton-John singing the trash Madonna sang? Nope.

“Hopelessly devoted to You” played seemingly ( to me, anyway) on loop over our brand new stereo system in our brand new field house that Summer. Thanks to Olivia for helping us Texas farm boys ( we still had a few then ) through those brutal weeks of two a day football practice in North Texas. I would not trade the memory, (every single time I hear this song - to this very day) as I sat with my back to the field house in a tiny sliver of shade, squinting out at the heat distorted chalk lines, getting ready to go again and see what new torture our new Coach had devised for us, and then hearing the lyrics“ hold on to the end, that’s just what I intend to do…” rising and falling with the opening and closing field house door, of the thought that this madness just might NOT ever end…😵💫. But we mostly held on, and most made it to the end…thanks again ONJ…virtually every lyric rang true in some way, signifying that teams relationship with football that particular year.
